Hi everyone! I'm new to the boards, and am planning my son's Make-A-Wish trip to Disney World! I hope this is the right place to post this. I have been very inspired by all of the trip reports I have seen on here, and decided to stop lurking, join, and make one of my own.
I'm kind of a lengthy speaker, but hopefully no one minds!
When I found out Mason going to have a wish, I had known all along that he would want to go to Disney World. I have been casually perusing threads for ideas since then. I have never been to Disney before in my life, and I don't know many people who have. I had no idea what to plan for, what theme parks have what rides, etc. I still don't have a very good idea, but I think I'm a little more prepared because of this board.
Mason went to declare his wish on Tuesday, and we were told that we would most likely be able to go as soon as we wanted--within a couple days, if we wanted to. Mason has just finished the main course of treatments, and is now in the middle of the only three week break he will get from treatments before maintenance begins. Now is actually the best time to go, unless we want to wait until January of 2012 (when maintenance is done), or do a lot of schedule juggling to get a week without doctor appointments. I gave them three different dates, and nothing is official yet, but they are really pushing for sometime around the 1st of Feb., since it's the best time in his schedule.
And now I'm a little nervous that I've shot myself in the foot, and won't be prepared enough. If we do end up going so soon, I'll have about a week to prepare...maybe less. I've always been flexible for trips, and could pack with a few hours notice and be ready to go, but I know this is different. I've never been there before, and have NO idea what to expect! So here is my little thread, where I'll begin planning and putting ideas together...and maybe (hopefully?) receive some help from those who have gone before.
So who's going on this trip?
Here is my sweet boy, and the lucky wish recipient, Mason, age 4. I wrote more about him in the next post, in case you are curious.
Mason's cousin Moses, age 6, coming as Mason's chosen "play mate" (because Mason is an only child):
Mason's auntie Latu, coming as helper extraordinaire (because I NEED her help!):
Me, Mason's mom. Also known as Penelope:
