I am interested in having my kids decorate masks in Epcot. Is there a particular country that you start at or can you start anywhere? I guess the better question is, where do you get the blank mask from? Do they have them at the Kidcot stations or do you have to purchase them somewhere before you can start? Thanks for the info!!

You can start in any country. They all have blank masks. My DD has done this twice and is looking forward to making another one in July! They get to decorate a little bit in every country.

I've never heard of this before and this sounds like something we'll definitely want to do! Where can I get all the info on this?

We were there last month and my DD (10) had a blast making her 3rd mask. Basically you can start at any country and get a blank mask. There will be colors and markers for your child to decorate the mask. My DD likes to just decorate a little in the beginning and add more details at each country. The CM at each country will add a paper die cut on a string and put a stamp of the country on the stick. We also asked the CM at each station to write my DD a message on the die cut in his/her native language. That was a blast! They really wrote some cute things. The best was from Norway that said, "Welcome to Norway, look out for trolls". (I made sure to write the translation underneath.) I'm a scrapbooker, so I also take a picture of her with the CM at each country. We usually get to WS when it opens and set aside one afternoon to get this done. It is so much fun!!

Also, for the countries that do not use our alphabet, ask them if they can sign the mask with your child's name in their alphabet. The kids thought it was awesome to see their names in other languages.

Definately do this! On our last trip, the CMs did that for my 6 yr old DD's mask. My DD had a nice experience because of that in the China pavillion because the CM wrote her name in Chinese on the back. When we were walking out of the pavillion, another Chinese CM saw her mask and called her by name. My DD, thought that was pretty cool and had a good long conversation with that CM, creating one of her best memories of that trip.

Just a suggestion, but start at one end of the countries. The first time we did this, we started half way through the countries and intended to go back to the ones we missed, but DD got tired. We make a new one each time we go, and on our last trip our youngest DD made her first one.:)

Allow plenty of time for this. It is a great activity that my 4 DD enjoyed, but it does take some time. As they get their masks decorated in each country, they also can sit and color them in each place. That is in addition to having the CMs write on them and stamp them. If you allow 10 minutes at each stop, that's almost 2 hours not counting walking time between countries and other things you will want to do in each area. If you are going to be there more than one day, I would suggest splitting it up into 2 days. That way you don't feel as rushed to get through each country as fast as possible so you don't miss one!

Also, don't forget about passports. They cost about $10 each, but they are fun to have the kids get stamped and put stickers in.:D

both trips over the last 2 years and it has been a big hit. Keeps the young ones involved in a park that sometimes they get bored it. It is a pain when the park is crowded and when much older kids (late teens) and even some adults try to get in on the CHILD activity! Your kids should enjoy and the masks make a great keepsake.

OK, you caught :bounce: me in Canada trying to get my dd last die cut. The looks I got from people were just too funny!

She was asleep in the stroller & I left her w/ dh. My 4 yr dd & I walked the steps into Canada to get our last stamp. It was fun!

I am glad they have the kidcot stations!

We are so excited that EPCOT is still providing the stations for making the masks. I was under the impression that they were not going to have this anymore until now. My DD is absolutly thrilled:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc . She will have the opportunity to make her 3rd mask.

The last 2 years when we went DH and I had a blast right along with DD to get to all the countries so she could have as many items on her mask as possible. One year while DH was reserving our spot for the "Tapestry of Nations" parade (tear:sad: because it is gone) DD and I literally were running in and out of countries to get her last minute items before the parade started. We were laughing our heads off:hyper: .

I have to hand it to Disney for thinking of these masks. Having these stations makes it much easier for parents to see The World Showcase because it gives the children something to look forward to. I know when I was a kid The World Showcase was a big bore:rolleyes1 and I didn't like going very much. But now as an adult I really enjoy The World Showcase and my DD does too, thanks to the mask stations.

:cheer2:Thanks Disney :cheer2:
