So my life will not end without an answer to this question, but I will be significantly happier if I can find a great inexpensive mascara. I have short straight eyelashes that are blond. You cannot see my lashes at all without mascara. I curl them everyday before applying mascara. I would like longer, dark colored lashes that curl enough to be seen. What do you use and how much does it cost?

I have had a problem in the past with build up on the lashes and trouble removing mascara. How does yours do with removal? I do use an eye make up remover.

Any thoughts and/or help would be muchly appreciated.

Great Lash (pink tube, black top) is the best ever!!!! It's less than $5. I use the waterproof and it comes right off with the remover but stays on until then. You can get it anywhere. It is always rates really high in women's magazines. Oh and I have blonde lashes and use blackest black to really make my eyes stand out.

I like Great Lash, and my drag queen friend says it's the favorite of all the "girls". Seriously.

Personally, I love Maybelline Colassal Volum Express. I usually pay about $5 a tube at Target. With it, I have long, curled, gorgeous lashes, and always get compliments on my eyes.

I've got medium/dark brown hair, so I'm not sure how it would look on someone with lighter hair.

I use CoverGirl with the curved brush, not waterproof. I also have a waterproof version of the pink-tube/green-top that works well enough. I like the curved brush on my CoverGirl though.

I've cried without waterproof on without issue, might have to reapply a little, but since I'm not out in the rain or crying often, I don't use the waterproof much. If you don't like having to use make-up remover, you might want to get a non-waterproof.

I have blonde blonde lashes as well, I use the brown-black color.

Maybelline waterproof Great Lash, but I also have friends who love Lash Blast! I am a stickler for getting new mascara every three months, so I don't want to spend a fortune on it.

Another vote for Great Lash and for remover, I love Target brand eyemakeup remover. It takes everything off and is not oily.

Just prior to school starting you can usually find the Great Lash (pink tubes with either green or black tops) at Wal-Mart, and maybe other stores too, in a special buy one get one free package. I always buy it then to make it a little cheaper yet!

Great lash is always being used on makeover shows alongside very good makeup.
It is awesome for everyone (almost)!

I've used Great Lash since I was a teen and over the years I've tried nearly every other mascara out there, even one that cost $30 and nothing compares to Great Lash.

It's buy one get one free at CVS this week.

My favorite is Great Lash (pink tube, green top) but I am using the Maybelline Colassal stuff (yellow tube) and I like it a lot too. I usually get all my makeup at CVS when they have their ECB deals which is how I got the Colassal stuff for FREE!

My all the time favorite is Cover Girl Lash Exact (Pink Tube) ... for some reason the brush on LashBlast itches my eyes, and I can't seem to get over it. I can usually find them buy one get one @ Walgreens or CVS, and I'll get one regular and one waterproof. The regular comes off easily - the waterproof is a little harder.

Right now I'm using and liking Maybelline Stiletto (stupid name for mascara!) and liking it a LOT, but it's not for thickening...

I don't know much about drug store brands, but if you want to splurge, Lancome has the BEST mascara out there. All are wonderful but if you're looking for something really dramatic, I recommend hypnose or virtuose. They're about $22 each. Just stay away from the waterproof if you have trouble with removal.
Also, fyi, lancome's drugstore brand is L'oreal so there may be an equivalent in their line.
I also use Almay eyemakeup remover...it's wonderful!

I tried Tube Your Lash (it has a new name now but I don't remember it) and it was awful. Tubes came off all the time. Yuck.

I tried Tarte which is a lash stain and supposed to last for 4 days. It also didn't make it for 1 day, coming off on Kali River Rapids. Nothing like raccoon eyes after that ride.

So I'm now back to Great Lash by Maybelline and it outlasted a thunderstorm, Splash Mountain, Kali River Rapids and gardening in my yard in 80 degree humid weather. I think I'll be sticking with Great Lash.

I love the Target Brand eye makeup remover. It works great.

Best mascara ever (for me) is Cover Girl Remarkable washable waterproof (purple tube)

It doesnt run if I cry, but it is still easy to wash off when i wash my face with my facial cleanser

Oh and it only cost $3.98 or $4.98 depends on the store

I like Lash discovery by Maybelline, I love the small brush I can really get it into the lashes. My therory is they took something out of mascara some type of perservative that makes it dry out quicker. Because most of my old favorites I don't like anymore.

I for years used Great Lash. It really gets the job done.

However, once I got started on buying department store cosmetics, that was the end of the drug store cosmetics. :rotfl: Any time you buy anything during a gift or an event you come home with a tube of mascara.

I second the Lancome definicils. It works amazingly.

Girl, you and I could be long lost twins! I have blonde short sparse eyelashes, blonde eyebrows, and my face totally disappears if I don't have mascara and eyebrow pencil on! The only good thing about this "blonde" condition is that the hair on my legs is blonde, too!;)

I used to use and love Cover Girl Marathon-waterproof. It is REALLY hard to get off.(I use baby oil.) I can't use regular-has to be waterproof because my lashes will go back to being straight. After curling with an eyelash curler if I use regular-it has water in it, so the curl just falls right out.

The best waterproof I have found is Maybelline Intense XXL-waterproof. It is a microfiber mascara-it has one side that you put on that is white and has some fiber-not a lot and they don't get into your eye.. Then the color is on the other side of the tube. It defines and thickens the best- and doesnt' look all clumpy like some fiber ones. I don't lose my curl, and it comes off with one wipe after applying baby oil.

I think drug store mascara is much better than the higher-end stuff. I use brand name for almost everything else, but drug store mascara.
Once you pick one you like, my tip is to wait until that brand goes Buy One Get One Free. Maybelline, CoverGirl, and Revlon go B1G1 all the time at CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, etc. Then you can use two coupons ($1 off coupons come out quite often) - one for each item - and you get two mascaras for cheaper than the normal price of one!

I have a hard time with mascara staying on my lashes. Rimmel London mascara has worked great for me. Blue lid. Not sure of name. Waterproof. I wash off with cold cream.

If you buy your makeup at CVS and you don't like it, you can return it. Great policy.
