Mary Poppins Swoops On To Broadway

(1010 WINS) NEW YORK ``Mary Poppins,'' the musical, is coming to Broadway.

The hit tale of the ageless London nanny is scheduled to start performances on October 14, 2006, at the New Amsterdam Theatre, for a November 16 opening.

The musical is based on the P.L. Travers stories and the 1964 Walt Disney film.

Disney's ``The Lion King'' will move from the New Amsterdam Theatre to its new home, the Minskoff Theatre, on June 13, 2006.

The Minskoff is being renovated to accommodate the Tony-winning production

Cant wait for Mary Poppins either, first Disney will open Tarzan. Then there will be 4 Disney shows running! Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, Tarzan and Mary Poppins.

I cannot wait for Tarzan to come to Broadway. I had heard about Mary Poppins...and was a littel surprised that they are moving Lion King, but I know disney also did that with Beauty and the Beast to make room for AIDA.
My kids just roll their eyes when I mention mary Poppins......they have seen the others and liked them, they are happy about Tarzan coming...but they just give "that Look" when I mention mary Poppins...what is wrong with these kids???????
