Thinking of taking family to see the Broadway play Mary Poppins. For those that have, is 4 too young? What seats do you suggest and don't suggest we purchase tickets for, with little ones?

Thanks for any information/suggestions/ideas/tips :thumbsup2

I am taking DD13 in March in Chicago. DS 9 has opted not to go. DH is thrilled, now he doesn't have to go either!!!

The info says the play is approx 2h 45m, give or take. I would say it depends on how your child does sitting that long. There will be an intermission, but they usually aren't very long. As far a seating goes, I don't really have a recommendation as to where to sit, but I would have binoculars for your child to avoid that "Mom, I can't see" Learned that one that hard way!

I would also suggest the matinee for a child of 4 so as not to interfere with bedtime.

Have fun! I know I can't wait to go.

I am taking my 5 yr old soon and freq. many many broadway shows. At most shows 4 yrs old is too young and not allowed. Disney shows are family oriented and are geared for kids.I would recommend pulling up a seating chart and looking to see the basic set up of the theater. I always purchase the absolute best tickets I can afford so i can see ( I am short). There is a 15 min intermission during the show.

We saw Mary Poppins last January ('08). It's a fun show for the family, and my dd (now 12) thinks it's fine for a four-year-old (I just asked her this morning)! That said, I would make sure that you get tickets in the front half of the orchestra or in the first two rows of the mezzanine so that you're close enough to the "action" to keep your little one's attention.

Just an FYI: Broadway theatres have booster seats, and these really help small kids see. My dd is a little on the short side, and she still uses one! ;)

Have a great time!!

I took my daughter for her 4th birthday. We live in Manhattan, and she loves going to shows. She sits really well, it is long, but with the intermission it breaks it up. It doesn't really follow the movie all the time, it is a little darker and dreary. Still really good. The best seats happen to be in the mezzanine or balcony for this show, at the end Mary Poppins flies right above you, it really lite my daughter's eyes up. You are eye to eye with Mary Poppins and it is so magical. The best seats are right of the stage, the even seats, like the first 3 rows. Great view for the entire show.

We took my 4 yr old daughter to see Mary Poppins in NYC a couple of months ago and she absolutely LOVED it! She sat through the whole thing with no problems, there was an intermission. I called to get tickets because I specifically wanted the first row of the mezzanine and I couldn't have been happier when we arrived. They were the perfect seats and I didn't have to worry about anyone too tall sitting in front of her. We sat off to the left and could see everything, they really were perfect seats for us and our daughter :O) Have fun!

We are going to NYC with out 5 year old DD so I just checked on all three Disney shows. The theatres all had age restrictions...my DD was fine but I am not sure if the restriction was listed as no children under 4 or under 5. You may want to call and check or look online to make sure.
