First a little info to let you all know why this trip I am planning is so important to me. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer 6 months ago and have been doing all the things needed to beat this (surgery,chemo, next radiation) So I have been pretty down until DH says why don't you plan for our next Disney trip, Soooo.. I so wanted to get onto the new Disney Dream cruise, my call into member services was answered right away by a pleasant voice of Mia, she wanted to know what she could do for me. I really wanted to do a long cruise but alas the new Dream only was doing 3, 4 and 5 days in 2011, so decided to do B2B, 3&5 and use my points to do so(finances a little tight with all the medical bills) I knew I had enough points in 2010 to do the Cat 11B, (we own 2 memberships BCV & BWV) Now I never told Mia about my cancer but did say DH and I would be celebrating our 40th anniversary, she said she would make it all work out. After about 1 and 1/2 hours on the phone:eek: I was feeling like it would never happen # 1 the 3 day had the 11B Cat but the 5 day was totally sold out of all the inside rooms (I really wanted to stay in same room for both cruises) all they had left was Cat 9B deluxe porthole rooms and above. So I questioned if possible could work out both doing the Cat 9B, not enough points in 2010 (my use years are June & March) the March one was doable to borrow but not June until 1st of June 2010:sad1: Knowing the rooms were going fast for the 5 day she wanted to do this for me, put on hold again and then, Miracle, she comes back and says after talking with "others" they would make an acception to transfer points from my BWV to BCV and borrow a few from 2011 from BCV whew she did it for me, I was in tears because she really did not know how important this is to me but she did her over the top best anyways to see that my DH and I would get this Cruise. If I could have given hugs over the phone she would have gotten the biggest ever! I can't believe it I now have something to look forward to plan and help give me hope for my future, they say it's a positive attitude that gets people through bad times and boy did I ever get positive from her, Mia you are the best! So now I am into a big planning mode so will be searching and asking a lot of questions about the Bahama cruise (never done this one)
I just had to post how member services has always been positive for me and that there are truly wonderful people working there.

Awesome! Great story. And best wishes for you on your journey! Hopefully you will be declared 100% healthy by the time of your cruise and you can look forward to it from now to then.
 
Thanks for sharing that wonderful story with us!! My experience with MS has always been positive but it seems that Mia went well beyond what we could ever expect.

If you haven't already, the bet weay to give Mia a "hug" is to send an email to MS and let them know what a great job she did.

Congratulations on this great news! We have also used DVC to give us a something to look forward to during cancer treatment, so I know how important your phone call was. We have had amazing CMs at MS as well. Here's to hope and happy endings! :love: :cloud9: :grouphug:
 
Wow- thanks for sharing such a heartfelt story. I'm so glad things worked out and that you have the B2B sailings to look forward to. We've been members since 1997 and I can honestly say I've always had a positive interaction with the person on the other end of the phone at MS. Sounds like you had extra pixie dust coming your way to make this work out. Happy planning, and I wish you the best for your treatment and recovery. ---Kathy

:worship: Last year my Guide, George, helped me out of a real bind. I wrote a 2 page letter to Mr. Lewis and Mr. Allen detailing the stupid errors I had made and how terrific George was in getting me back on track. About a month later I received the nicest phone call from a lady in Mr. Lewis' office telling me how much they enjoyed and appreciated my letter. That made me feel great. Then when I talked to George around the Christmas webcast he thanked me himself. So they do actually get to someone and the Guides are commended for going above and beyond.

I know how much it meant to you that Mia took care of you, like the PP said pay it forward and send a note to MS. Take Care :cutie:

ToddyLu & CarolMN, how do I go about sending the letter? Is it just sent to Member Services? Do I make a note on envelope what it is for? Will they know who Mia is (no last name) I really want to give her all the appreciation that I can. I believe there are angels everywhere and she truly is one.

Yes, just send it to Member Services. They will know who Mia is - Disney cast members have unique screen names.
 
Your story really hits home. After we bought in last week I had that moment of panic where I thought we have made a bad decision and we can't afford this. But, then I thought about how none of us is guaranteed a tomorrow and we should enjoy life. There is nothing I would rather do than spend my time watching my son grow up at Disney. Every trip is a memory and our time here is precious. Two years ago my mom planned and paid for a trip for her, myself, my sister and my nephew. She became very ill and could not make it at the last minute (not cancer and for now she is ok). We did not know if we would ever get her back but she insisted we go without her. We made it up to her this past summer by paying for her to go with us. I would not trade those times she had to spend with her grandkids at Disney for any amount of money. Enjoy every moment and keep your positive attitude. We will all be pulling for you!

Disney ny I agree that is why I take things day by day and keep the positive by doing things like planning an awesome vacation and enjoying my family especially my grand kids! The saying "Life is short!" used to be just a saying to me, now I fully understand it.
