With the recent IP acquisition of the licensing rights to use Nintendo in their theme parks, Universal may be looking for space to display their new attractions. The rumors are talks between the U parks and Disney are heating up to FINALLY bring the Marvel Cinamatic Universe to the theme parks! Disney's Hollywood Adventure I mean Studios (for now) would be a perfect place for them. Iron Man, Cap, Thor, Spidey, Black Widow and the rest are hopefully heading home.

I didn't think there was an issue with using the cinematic Marvel versions for Disney as it was. I was under the impression that Universal's license was for the comic book versions which in the past were very different representations.

Anything

The contract doesn't currently allow any Marvel Characters that already exisist in the U Parks, (Cap, Hulk, etc.) to coexist in a U.S. Disney Park East of the Mississippi. When the monorails are wrapped with Avengers they can't be the ones that go to Epcot because technically they go into the park.

It's a very extensive contract. Disney was allowed to hold movie previews for gaurdians of the Galaxy in DHS but they can do it for movies like the avengers or Thor. Disney cannot basically have any of the avengers characters of spider man in their WDW parks. Disneyland is free game tho.

Some info here. There are some negotiations going on. This is not to get marvel rights back to disney. That would cost both companies. Neither company wants that. Universal likes having marvel characters in UOR and disney likes receiving their check for them having them. The negotiations are actually for the possibility of universal getting marvel of the marvel universe. Hulk is set to get a big redo, dr. Doom is supposed to get a new marvel theme and a new marvel attraction could be on the way in the not to distant future for IOA. Nintendo is set for the cartoon kiddie land.

I can't see Disney allowing any new Marvel attractions being built outside their gates.

There has to be some reason for all these media outlets reporting these negotiations. Since I don't plan on going to the U Parks anytime soon, I can hold onto the dream. MARVEL IS COMING.

Keep dreaming because unless disney ponies up billions and multiple billions it ain't happening there is way more to the contract and the small negotiations that you think. Marvel is not coming to WDW, disneyland sure, WDW no. It's much much more likely that marvel expands at universal.

Disney doesn't have a say other than they must maintain the attractions. Disney receives a check for the attractions. The contract doesn't have an expiration date. Disney isn't going to pay what it takes they don't want it that bad yet. They have Star Wars that they can use for WDW.

Marvel isn't leaving Universal for Disney anytime soon. Ain't gonna happen.

I've mentioned before that Disney enjoys the relationship they have with Universal at the moment. Disney churns out a film or two and Universal builds the rides. Disney doesn't have to invest in attractions, maintenance or staffing because that means spending money - continuously. With this relationship all they do is wait for Universal to send them the royalty check. The only risk (if you can really call it that) in this arrangement is the upfront costs to make a movie. An interesting side note; it's believed that Avengers: Age of Ultron has passed the one billion dollar mark in ticket sales as of today. Not a bad for an investment of 250 million.

Don't look for Marvel to enter the Orlando campus anytime soon.

Based on what I've heard the marvel presence is likely to expand at unjversal

Can only happen if the parent company gives the nod. Disney won't.

And why won't they? Financial benefit with little or no risk. Sounds like a slam dunk.

And consider this...not to beat the other dead horse in this IP game, but Disney has been in full ownership of Lucasfilm for two and a half years. No Gordian Knot to cut through with another company to build attractions yet we've seen nothing. If they're either unwilling or slow as glaciers to do something with Star Wars then why would they do a complete turnaround with this philosophy and do battle with Universal to get Marvel back for attraction building?

Why wouldn't they. I suggest you go and read the contract. Disney has no say in the contract because it was made prior to disney buying marvel so disney has to abide by it.

This makes perfect sense. There's a frenzy with Marvel at the moment with Thor, Captain America, Iron Man and the whole gang in Avengers. Capitalize now while the gettin' is good.

According to everything I've read Disney certainly does have say in how U uses their characters. They HAVE to have permission from Disney to add anything Marvel to their parks. I just can't see Disney allowing it. Marvel DONE RIGHT would be a cash cow.

As for Star Wars, they've already announced its coming but it will be based on the new movies so look for additions following Episode 7.

Sorry, but there's been no such announcement. The only thing we have from Iger is 'a presence in the parks'. No mention of anything official coming Orlando's way.

Disney has a say that their attractions must be up to the standards disney wants. Marvel has been done right and is a cash cow. Spider man is said to be one of the best attractions in Orlando. The movies bring in millions upon millions every year.

Star Wars nothing has been announced other than something is coming nobody knows what, when or where so we basically know nothing I don't count that as an announcement.
