D23 Members are Invited to Mickey's of Glendale for "Friends and Family" Trading Day!

On Saturday, August 21, D23 Members are invited to visit Walt Disney Imagineering's employee store and meet Imagineering and Disney Legend Marty Sklar!

Details are at d23.Disney.go.com

While this is not an ABD trip, it may be your low cost opportunity to see Marty Sklar and shop till you drop at Mickey's.

Despite many comments to the contrary, D23 is providing quality events and merchandise for those able to attend or purchase. They are certainly more economical than ABD.

This has already been posted in another thread.

While I think this is great for D23 members, suggesting that it's more economical than an ABD adventure is similar to suggesting that it's more economical to buy DCL souvenirs at a 192 gift shop than it is to take a DCL cruise.

I clearly stated that this was not an ABD event. I just thought those that could not afford the ABD trip might benefit from this.
As for having this posted elsewhere on the site, I had not noticed. Sorry.

Boy, aren't we testy today.

Not testy...just pointing out something I thought was pretty obvious.

I clearly stated that it's great for D23 members, but you arent comparing apples to apples.

You are comparing a chance to shop to a 6 day / 5 night luxury trip.

Just pointing it out for you.:thumbsup2

Hmm some people on our ABD trip 1.0 seemed as if the big deal about the trip was shopping at MOG. ;)

That is why I thought it was a great idea to mention. Not everyone can afford an ABD trip. I never said nor would I ever think the two were comparable, they are not. But considering the podcast's disparagement of D23 in the past, Kevin's attitude is not surprising and he's looking out for DU's financial interests and his free trips.

That's a little uncalled for, don't you think? Kevin WORKS for Dreams Unlimited and the DIS. He's not going on trips purely for his health. When Pete and Walter and Max went to the Mediterranean Cruise, they seem to have worked their butts off.

Also, considering that the ABD podcast trips are filling quickly, if not totally sold out, I don't think DU's finances have anything to do with a D23 event.:confused3

I have a friend who would say that "you have a firm grasp of the obvious".

And yes....a $75 yearly membership to a club is certainly more economical than a $3300 vacation, but not to someone in another part of the country who has to travel to California. They still have to pay for a vacation AND a $75 club membership.

It's also like saying that a taste from the sample lady in the supermarket is more economical that a cartload of grocery that will last a week.

Again....I will point out that you are comparing two wildly different things, but I think as an educator, you are probably aware of that. It just seems that in your attempt to defend D23 (and why, is beyond me), you seem to not see that.

Not everyone can afford an ABD trip. I never said nor would I ever think the two were comparable, they are not.

But you did compare them, as I've pointed out. And not everyone can afford to travel across the country for a half day event. This will appeal to the D23 members that live in southern California and those already on vacation.

But considering the podcast's disparagement of D23 in the past, Kevin's attitude is not surprising and he's looking out for DU's financial interests and his free trips.

This has nothing to do with D23 Roger, or to DU's financial interest. Again, I'm surprised that as an educator, you dont see that.

And finally...it seems you might be a bit envious of my "free trips".

As someone that sells, books, arranges and expedites travel....it's part of my job, and the best part is that I get paid to travel. Quite a perk, huh?:thumbsup2
