Martin Luther King weekend - who's going??

We decided in September to go for my husband's birthday weekend (1/21) which happens to coincide with MLK holiday. We're flying Friday night, returning home Tuesday. The airfare out of Milwaukee on Midwest was cheap - $197 including tax. BUT, we're stressing because there are NO hotels available, DVC or otherwise! We're on a waitlist. What is going on??

Does anyone have an opinion, or a comment....

We're going on a cash ressie at VWL from the 18th - 22nd too! I think there may be some cheerleading competition during that timeframe too which has the values & moderates booked pretty good.... We booked awhile back tho - so you may just be calling too close to a holiday weekend?! Are you trying to book with cash or points? The AP rates just came out a few weeks ago too & I think they booked up quick as well......

We have been on the waitlist since September, and I've also periodically checked back for DVC cash availability. What I haven't done yet is check with CRO, though....thanks for the response.

We will be coming to WDW that weekend right after getting off the Magic. We are coming for our 1 year anniversary since we got married at WDW on January 14 last year. We got a Conceirge level studio at AKL for the 19th and then we are moving for the other night to the Poly. We planned this all out monthes ago, but I will tell you the monday of MKL is also a mad house at the parks. Last year it was even crazy at Animal Kingdom.

My kids finish finals on friday morning and then have 2 days off school, plus our anniversary.. we made ressies last June.. staying at OKW..

We are going 1/17-1/27--meeting famly down there for afor part of that time & then being joined by friends for teh rest of the week! I have been tld that it is very busy for that "long weekdn, then the rest of the week is fine; also there is cheerleading competiion--the college age--just found this out from my DS GF who is going down to compete, plus there is a soccer tournament at Disney as well--just found out niece is in that!! SO we will be busy doing some of those things--tryng to avoid the crowds at the parks. However, there is Pirates 7 Princess part on the night of 1/21/07, so maybe that is also another reason! (yes we will be there too!!) I am glad we got our reservations when we did! I think getting a cash res would be a good bet about now. Good luck. to you! Deb

We'll be there! We have 10n at BWV starting 1/16 ... followed by 2n AKV Concierge . We'll celebrate my b'day, drink in all we can from the 15th annual Lotusphere conference and then have a few days of R'n'R.

Hey everyone! Just got back from SSR for Thanksgiving(wonderful time and beautiful weather!).

We'll be at BCV for MLK weekend coming in Thursday afternoon. Crossing fingers weather will be nice(well coming from NW Ohio anything will be better than home).

I'm there... scheduled a last minute trip... we fly in on Friday afternoon and leave on Monday night.

I was able to get two nights in a studio at BCV and 1 night in a 1BR at SSR... that was all that was available... I don't want to switch resorts, but that was my only choice.

I'm waitlisted at BCV for my SSR night - but I don't have much hope.

Oct... I can check the actual date... but for me that is last minute... I always book at the 11 month window - so this seems quick.

I'm booked in a Studio at Wilderness Lodge January 19-22. We called MS in September and got the availability immediately. I've always been lucky when calling to make ressies. Mickey must be on my side!!!

Denise - how do you DO that? I have never been able to catch a ding for the flights I want...do I just book too early 'cuz I want to have all of my plans finalized? Or maybe I am too picky about my dates & times? Can I hire you to help me find what I want?! We need need cheap flights for next summer (BWI works)! I'll just put my order in now! I want an EARLY morning flight on Thurs. July 17 with a return around 1:00ish on Sun. the 27th!? When SW (and Air Tran) first released their dates for MLK they seemed really high so I booked us on Jet Blue out of Dulles...but that was probably in early Sept. - now the Jet Blue prices are DOUBLE what we paid. But nobody was anywhere near $49 at the time! Not even TED! You go girl!
