We are hoping to plan a surprise birthday trip for our daughter. We would arrive Sunday Jan 18th, and her birthday is the next day. I just realized today it is MLK day. How big of a deal is it at WDW? Is is a huge holiday in the states? Do you think we will hit massive crowds?

Thanks!

When compared to crowd levels the rest of the month, MLK weekend IS a big deal. Crowd levels will go from a 4 to an 8 over the weekend. So, not as big a deal as Christmas or July 4, but it will have the biggest crowds of the month. Tuesday would see a return to lower crowds.

We often travel to WDW right around that time. Its busier through the weekend and then it goes back to the quiet crowds of January again. Its one of our favourite times to go. We often actually travel on that Monday its usually not crowded at the airport in BUF
