anyone stayed here.

on a review read about a smoker in the next unit being allowed to smoke on the balcony.

Since I am allergy to tobacco and it causes my asthma to kick it - this is scarey to me.

Nearly all timeshare properties allow smoking on the balcony of your unit. The only exception that comes to mind is DVC.

I didn't realize my sister-in-law's asthma had gotten so serious until someone walked by her in the yard on Thanksgiving smoking a cigarette. She suffered for an extended period of time before she was able to breathe normally again.

I have a reaction to perfumes. Someone standing in the doorway of my office wearing a lot of perfume can cause a problem for me.

I know you've spent many weeks in timeshare units apparently without being unlucky enough to be next door to a smoker. I would explain the problem to the resort and try to get a unit with as little exposure as possible.

There is not supposed to be smoking anywhere in Marriott units including the balcony. If someone near you is smoking I'd be calling the front desk.

Sabal palms was one of the first ever Time Share units in the Disney area. Marriott almost wrote the book on how time shares are done.

It's been quite a few years since I stayed here, but the units were large and well appointed. Kind of a long drive to the back of the world center property to get to these units. But you are so close to Disney property.

thank you!

was worried - there is nothing on the Marriott system about smoking - so thought it was non-smoking - then one of the reviews I read say guests were on the balcony smoking.

the only timeshare that I know that allows smoking in the units is the Sheraton Vistana - there did explain my problem at the front desk and wrote a letter before coming - they say that only non-smokers would be in the building - had no problems what so ever.

feel so much better!!!:banana::worship::rotfl2::cool1:

I was there for almost 2 weeks last August, and never smelled any smoke (thankfully, since my son has asthma!). Matter of fact, the only time I experienced smoke was at the AKL when my sister's suite reeked of smoke the day she checked in!

I loved the place - grilled one night for the kids (maybe more than one?). It has a quiet residential feel, very peaceful and nice. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

One suggestion: I used two extra pillows to stuff into the little opening that allows sunlight to peek through the master bathroom. That made for much better sleeping. We liked the master shower so much that the kids didn't even use the other shower!

It is a drive around the property to get to the condos, but it is so close to Disney! Much closer than other Marriott's that we've stayed at (Grande Vista and Harbor Lake). I'm trying to talk my sister into staying there for a girls' weekend to go to Epcot Food & Wine Festival next fall - it would be nice to each have our own bedroom and still be so close.

Like the other Marriott timeshare resorts, the policy at Sabal Palms is no smoking in the unit, no smoking on the balcony. I recall seeing a couple of designated smoking areas on the grounds somewhere, though. As a PP mentioned, if someone is smoking from a balcony and it's bothering you - you should call the front desk. The folks at at Sabal Palms desk are amongst the best of any of the Orlando Marriotts, IMO.

I've stayed at Imperial palms which is there along with Sabal and Royal. I can tell you, IMHO, that it is a pain in the neck to catch the shuttle to the marriott world where everything is happening (large pool, events, food). If you are okay staying at the outside site then you'll be fine.

Of course, the OP was asking about Sabal Palms which is both the closest of the three timeshare resorts to the hotel amenities and easily walkable to the pools, etc.

I think they are all walkable, if you are willing to dodge traffic, but the shuttle stops at all 3.

we just came back tonight from a stay at the Royal Palms...but we spent alot of time at Sabal Palms because we had teens...loved, loved, loved this spot....the shuttle stops at all 3 and is available on demand from 8am-11pm. I can't recomend this spot enough.
