I'm betting Dean can answer this one....and anyone else who has some advice, go ahead and chime in! :D Which of the Marriott's would you recommend at HH? We might squeeze a weekend trip in sometime and rather than spend weekend points, we thought we'd try one of the Marriott's. (Or is there somewhere else you'd recommend?) Oceanside would be preferrable.

I'm not Dean, but I've been visiting Hilton Head for many years, most recently as a new DVC Member (YEAH)!!! If you want beachfront, the Marriott Grand Ocean Resort on South Forest Beach Drive is beautiful. It is one of the best beach areas on the island, and the resort itself is great, although I haven't actually stayed there. Family members of mine have, though, and they loved it. The location is near many restaurants, shops and the back gate to the Sea Pines Plantation, where Harbourtown is located. Marriott also took over what used to be the Hyatt Resort, which is located oceanfront, right near the Disney beach house. It is called the Marriott Beach and Tennis Resort, but I don't know much about it other than its' location, which is terrific! Have a great trip, wherever you decide to stay!

I would stay at Grande Ocean. The prices for 2001 were $400 and $425 per night for high season for ocean side and ocean front. You may also want to try to get a full weeks exchange there for a studio for a time starting either on Friday or Sunday which might actually be cheaper if you can get it less than 2 months out using 55 HH points plus teh $75 exchange fee. You may also want to see about renting off season from a member which should also be pretty inexpensive and may be worth paying for the whole week just to get the weekend.

Monarch would be another good choice. Not as good a resort but just as good a location and better in some ways especially if you will bike. I also wouldn't rule out Barony which is a newer resort, somewhat oceanfront but away from most other parts of the island.

Thanks for your replies, Beachlover and Dean! As many have said before, you are truly a wealth of information about the timeshare market, Dean! Thanks for sharing it with us! :)

Not a problem. By coincidence I just received my GO newsletter today. The price for 3/1-5/30 and 9/6-10/31 is $330 & $300 where it's $200 & $180 for truly off season.
