We will be staying at the Marrriott World Center at the end of our trip and I got a discounted rate. Will that mean we will get a less desirable room location or view? What are your opinions? Anyone have any experience there? What are the views like if you don't have a pool view and what are they like if you aren't in the main tower but off to the sides? :confused3

Thank you for any info on this place. I keep worring that I may have not gotten such a great deal if we are looking at dumpsters and having to walk forever to get out to the pool or even to the lobby area. This is a nice place right? :worried: Just being a little paranoid.

Thanks, YO

We stayed at the Marriott years ago and really enjoyed it. Very nice and close to the parks.

Our view was non-pool. We overlooked part of the golf course. I recall spending each morning having coffee watching golfers tee off. Hope you have nice time too.

It's a huge hotel so no matter what you pay you may have a hike to some places. However, having stayed on discounted rates there I can't say I got inferior rooms...

CarolA, glad to hear that about the rooms. :goodvibes

skunkvette, the golf course sounds good. :thumbsup2

Thanks, YO

I stayed there several years ago for a conference - very nice hotel and great pool!

Ask for the north side - then you can watch the fireworks! We stayed there last 4th of July and we swam all day and watched the fireworks from the room - we never left.

Bring something for breakfast - they run out of expensive muffins early and breakfast cost about 16.00 a person in the restaurant. We tried to get breakfast around 9am and that was out only choice.

Be aware, You can't walk to anything. It is a resort out by itself.

Marriott's are usually always nice - it's funny how Residence and Springhill Suites by Marriott will feed you a huge breakfast and the Mariott that costs the most $$$ leaves you starving!

The pool is beautiful and the hotel is built so you don't have far to walk but your car may be far from your room, depending on where they put you.

Have a great time - this is a beautiful resort with a nice slide, two hot tubs, a volleyball pool and a nice waterfall with a bar in the middle- they sell ice cream and have kid activities by the pool!

We stayed at the Imperial Palm villas next door and hung out at the world during the day this past February. It was a great place and i think you will be fine, however, they just started construction on the convention center when we were there and I understood it would be going on through the summer.

courage,
Sounds great!!! :) That's what I want to hear. Thanks for the great detail, I will ask for the north side. We do like breakfast, :bounce: but I understand there is a Golden Corral or something like that not too far away. Is the hotel brakfast buffet good? We may have to try it at least once.

jeff968,
That's not what I want to hear. :guilty: Is the convention center have rooms around it? Any area I should make sure our room is not in?

Thanks, YO

there is a Golden Corral and Ponderosa - turn left - then turn left again for the Golden Corral - and go straight for the Ponderosa

spiceycat, do they both have made to order omlettes & other fresh stuff?
Which is better for the $? I'm starving right now so sorry for goofy questions.
Thanks for the directions :thumbsup2

Golden Corral definitely does.

Not sure about Ponderosa - but it is so cheap like $3.99 for breakfast - Golden Corral is twice that...

Hey, spiceycat, thanks for the info. I have splurge one day and try do both.

Thanks, YO

The breakfast at Solaris is very good, I think the buffet costs like $18 a person, not sure what the price is for kids. We live in Orlando and go to Solaris all the time for breakfast it is really good. Probably not very cost effective to eat there every morning but it is worth splurging on one morning. Hope you have a great time!

Several years ago we stayed for a week through priceline. Our Rooms were greatly discounted. Can't remember exact amount but it was really low.....I think they were about $40 a night. When we checked in we were given so-so rooms (we had booked 2)over looking the front area of the hotel. They just looked a bit sloppy as well as not having a nice view. I called because the floors had not been properly vacuumed and then they asked if I would like new rooms or to wait for housekeeping. Since we had only been there for 5 minutes we took the new rooms and I guess to be concillatory they gave me the 8th floor overlooking that faboulous oasis pool. (I had asked when I called down if I had gotten the messy rooms since I had used priceline- I wasn't sure but I did wonder) Not only was the view nicer but these rooms did not have the housekeeping issues that the first set did. They also gave my party free vouchers for the breakfast buffet. That was nice of them. But I did wonder since those pool view rooms were availalbe and I asked if I could have a pool view when I check in why they did not give me the rooms I wanted originally without me having to go to the other rooms and complain about the housekeeping. I can only assume that since I was staying so cheap they may have been saving the better views for the higher paying guests. Well that was one instance that it paid to complain.
if you don't want to pay for valet parking you are in for quite a trek. Thankfully my DH was lovely and dropped us off at the entrance and went to park himself and then would walk or shuttle back. Also when I stayed there was a $9 or $10 resort fee which with 2 rooms for a week amount to quite a bit of change. That was added on to my bill at checkout even though I had prepaid the room through Priceline. I nicely asked to have it removed and they did without blinking an eye. Otherwise it was a lovely stay.

Oscar5933,
I will try it at least once, sounds good. :thumbsup2

jjjbennett,
I'll keep that in mind if we end up with a not so nice room. On the parking fee why did they take it off? I too am through another source and was wondering if it is supposed to include parking, that would be nice. I didn't get as good of a rate as you :guilty: but I'll take what I got  compared to what I was origanally looking at. I really hope we get a nice pool view along with a fireworks view, that would be great. :cool1: Can I have both? Are there balconies?

Thanks, YO

Coachyo - it was not a parking fee ...... it was a resort fee.... and extra fee they tack on for such amenities as use of the fitness area, a newspaper in the morning and other silly extras...... but they don't really give you a choice they just tack it on. Maybe they do not do it anymore. I found several resorts do this. Anyway since I did not use the fitness center and did not care about the newspaper I felt no guilt in asking for it to be removed to which they graciously complied. When I was there I believe that Valet parking was $12 a day. But as I stated my husband was our valet parker and would drop us off and then walk himself back to the room from the parking area. I did it with him one day and it was really a long walk although you could do most of the walk in the building through the conference areas so at least you were cool.

jjjbennett,
I heard they had a parking fee even if you self park. I know that is what I'll do. :yay: So I have access to the fitness center then if I have a resort fee added also? I wonder if it is like at Universal hotel where I use the showers & get ready while the other 3 girls fight over the bathroom in the room.

Thanks, YO
