I will be heading to the Orlando area in December 2009 with my wife and 2 children 6 & 4 at travel time. Of these 2 hotels which is nicer? I have eaten breakfast in the Hyatt and it was great, beautiful lobby, etc.. but I never stayed there. The Marriott is appealing to me because I can use points for the 7 night stay. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

I have stayed at both and would have to say the Hyatt was nicer. Now, like you I have a lot of Marriott points and I dont know if I would think it was nice enough to pay for over free LOL!

I have stayed at the Hyatt Grand Cypress and our family really loved it because of the incredible fantasy pool(same as the Hyatt Maui)BUT my kids are 8 & 11 and quite tall for their respective ages and we found the pool quite deep. They are excellent swimmers so it wasn't a problem however the shallow areas for little ones are very limited. Also, that huge pool was cold in early Oct, I cannot even imagine it in Dec. I am running on the assumption it is not heated but check before taking my word as law.The water slide is not a big one but it is fast and seriously fun. The lobby is impressive, the staff was courteous and professional and the grounds were gorgeous. The rooms felt like a trip to 1989 but I liked them, it was nostalgic and they were clean and upscale 1989. All in all, as I said before we loved the hotel but I don't know if we would have if my kids were younger. Can't comment on the Marriott, have not stayed there but both hotels are in pretty good locations so I don't think you could go wrong at either. Good luck...

We stayed at the Marriott Imperial Palms and spent the days at the world. The pool there was fantastic, huge, with a great slide.

I'm a big fan of both. The Hyatt is a bit nicer, but the Marriott is still very nice with a bit more of a relaxed atmosphere, if that makes sense. If you had the points, I'd use the Marriott, they're not that much different.

We are also thinking about the Hyatt. Is there a shuttle bus to Downtown Disney?

If you have Marriott points I'd do the World Center in a heartbeat! They have an incredible main pool complex that kids love, plus other smaller pools. It is very close and convenient to get to all the parks. I'm sure the Hyatt is nice too, but if you have points to use stay at the Marriott!!!
