Has anyone stayed in one of the townhouses/villas at the Marriott Vacation Club? We are hoping to go to DLP at the end of September - there will be 4 adults, one child and one infant. As our baby will be around 5 mths and may be starting weaning, we would like somewhere with self catering amenities - microwave, fridge etc for her.

Ideally would have liked to stay at a Disney hotel but the only s/c option is the Davy Crockett Ranch but tbh it looks v dated and basic :( I then found the Marriott Village accomodation which looks fantastic but I know very little about it.

Anyone stayed here or know more about it please? It says it's about a 5 min drive from DLP.

If we did stay here how would be the best way to buy DLP passes? Would we just buy on the day or buy from Disney direct in advance?

How much is an annual pass these days?

Thanks
Patsy

A few people have stayed there and done reports - Disneyangel being one- read her trip reports.
It seems very nice.

There are 3 APs - the cheapest (Francilien) is 89E but this cant be used on 2nd and 3rd day after first use

The next one (Fantasy) is 129E

The most expensive (Dream) is 179E but gives much better discounts and EMH even if staying offsite

Francilien and Fantasy also have blackout days whereas Dream can be used every day

I would suggest you take a look at Tripadvisor - they have quite a few reviews of the Marriott Vacation Village.

We own one week a year here, and consider Disney accommodation a real step down. they are 5 star accommodations, but be advised you do not get daily maid service. At 1100 sq feet, 3 tvs and a DVD player, as well as a full kitchen, it is fab with kids. Having a washing machine and dishwasher is awesome with kids.

The pool is great, and the spa gives great messages. The cookery classes and wine tasting is fun too. We love it, best thing we ever bought.

However, it is best if you have a car. There is a bus, but only a few each day. Then if you miss them, there is a public bus for a fee more often.

Be advised there is no restaurant, but there is a food delivery service that is very good.

We opt for Dream passes as they allow extra magic hours, and we can park at the hotel New York. So we love it. Sadly, when we go in August, they are fully booked, so we have to make due with the Hotel New York.

Other thing to point out, if it seems expensive to you, there is the Pierre and Vacance near the Val d' Europe (is it now the Adagio?). It is not as nice as the Marriott, but it is cheaper.

Thanks for the replies :D Have looked at tripadvisor and they seem to have good reviews - I was just wanting people's views here really with regard to the proximity/ease for DLP into the equation.

I will read Disneyangels posts - thanks for that and thanks for the info on the annual passes - I'm a complete novice to all this so any info is helpful :thumbsup2

We will definately have a car and like the idea of parking at the NY hotel - that's handy.

As a few people have said we love :lovestruc the Marriot Village and have stayed there a number of times (beginning to loose count :rolleyes1 ).

The accomodation is great and it's fab to have the conviences of home (albeit tidier and better laid out than my home :lmao: )

We have been really lucky in that we have always got really reasonable prices on the accomodation (the cheapest being 99€ a night :thumbsup2 ).

We have never driven and mostly got by using the free shuttle buses but the route doesn't look to complicated to get to Disney and would only take about 5-10 minutes I think.

There is a champion supermarket about 10 minutes walk away which we used to stock up on essentials (driving this would be less than 5). There is a smaller shop 'the marketplace' on site but it is more expensive although their croissants , freshly baked in the morning are lovely :cloud9:

The pool is also nice to chill in and there is a little soft play room that has a kids club during the day but can be used up to 8pm. There are also at least 3 outside play areas for the little ones to explore.

The other thing of benefit is that you'll be able to put the little ones to bed and stay up and have some adult time together.

We have always bought Fantasy passes as we've never needed to visit on blackout days and are shareholders so already get 15% discount. However now you get EMH I would maybe consider dream passes. It depends if you would be ready to get up and out that early or wanted to chill a bit in the morning. When my DD was as you as yours it took me hours to get out in the morning ;)

If the other child is under 7 they will get a free pass when you buy an adults. We have been in September and had glorious weather :goodvibes and during the week the queues were very small. The weekends are much busier though.

If you think of anything you'd like to ask feel free to send me a PM . I'd love to help ::yes::

Aww thanks Disneyangel - that's so helpful. I did go back and have a look at your 2006 trip report and it does sound just what we need.

My DD1 will be 3.5 when we hope to go and my DD2 will be 5 months - so it's for her that we really want conviences of home etc as I'm pretty sure she will be at the beginning of weaning by then so I'll need to sterilise stuff etc.

There will obv be myself and my DH and the other two adults are my Mum and Stepdad. I'm thinking they'd probably like their own villa but I'll look at the prices. I see they do a few 3 bedroom ones so that could be an option. I think my DD1 will be in her own room and DD2 will need to be in a cot in our room, so a 3 bed would leave a room for Mum/Dad. Depends on the price I guess.

We will have a car (need a 7 seater) as we were looking at the DCR to start with and knew we needed one there - as there are a pile of us we thought it would be better than scrumming for the bus from the airport etc and it means we can come and go as we like. So the drive time is great - not far at all.

I'm really surprised more families don't stay here??

If I think if anything more specific I'll PM you :)

We've booked for Christmas as there are five of us and didn't fancy DCR again as we have had a few problems with some of the cabins.

Also, the cost for 4 nights + 5 dream AP's is cheaper than 4 nights at DCR + tickets for 5 days

Simon

Did you book through the Marriott website? I've heard that offers the best rates. I also agree that on first looking, the APs and the accom seem a good price.

Patsy

Yes - one advantage is that you can cancel upto about 4 days in advance without any cost

Also they are currently booking well into next year.

We have stayed at the Marriott Villas, and will be there again at the end of September. The villas are spacious, and have a full kitchen, dining room, and laundry. It's perfect for entertaining.

Having a car is handy, but not essential.

Just been checking out the rate - not that good. It's coming out at £1200 for 4 nights for a 2 bed townhouse (195 Euros per night x 2 - odd but it seems to charge for both rooms in the one house at that rate). This seems steep compared to what others have said about their rates. We will need 2 townhouses as we have the two little ones (3 year old will be in her own room, baby in with us) and my parents, who will want their privacy no doubt - so sofabed no good. Where has everyone booked (this was through Marriott itself)?

Woody - can I ask what rate you got please - sorry don't mean to be nosey but we are looking to go end Sept too so it's the same time...

I stayed there May 2008 & will hopefully stay there again in Nov 2008. At the moment the houses are 130 euro per night in Nov. Your price sounds very high - put 1 in the no. of rooms box for one house. Or you could always phone them.

Anyway, I would recommend them. We stayed there because we also had a baby (17 mths so a bit older than yours!) but I still needed a fridge for milk & the kitchen for cooking her meals. The Champion supermarket 10 mins away is great & stocks everything you will need. It has nappies (forget which brand but it was Pampers or Huggies) and baby food jars (although I didn't need any of these). We cooked most evening meals in the house.

The house was immaculate & the pool & playroom were great places to entertain the kids. I'm sure you'll not regret staying here.

. . . Woody - can I ask what rate you got please - sorry don't mean to be nosey but we are looking to go end Sept too so it's the same time...
Patsy, No worries.

We own a week at another Marriott property, and traded to stay one week again in a DLP Villa.

Marriott's Village has 2 and 3-bedroom villas. It sounds like you need a three bedroom unit, not two 2-bedroom units. You might try calling Marriott reservations.

Woody

Thanks Woody - if I get a chance I'll call them tonight to see what's on offer.

I think like woody you need to phone to get the 3 bedroom villas. They only seem to have 2 bed ones online.
