Has anyone stayed here? It looks great. My Mother has bought into a vacation club that includes Marriott. Any other info on Orlando Marriott properties would be helpful as well.
Thanks,
Tara ;)

Thank you for the great info. I saw pictures of Horizons and it looks beautiful.

We have stayed there 12 weeks, yep 12 :cool1: weeks over the past 3 years.

The resort is under construction & we were NOT bothered by the noise in 3/05. Some Disers have been concerned about this. We have been on site during the last 2 phases of construction & had no problems at all.

There are 5 bldgs. that have villas in them. All of the villas are 2 bedroom (master has shower w/ 2 shower heads), the 2nd bath which connects to the kitchen & the 2nd bedroom has a tub/shower. There is a full kitchen with full size fridge w/ ice maker, electric stove, blender, microwave, dishwasher, compact washer & dryer. There are dishwasher packets & liquid soap ... under the kitchen sink. They just started putting starter sets in the villas which included 1 use load laundry detergent, starter coffee, some OTC medicines & more that I can't remember right now.

The pirate: Pirate Pool with slides is our girls favorite! There are interactive water guns that are great to get unsuspecting folks. There is a "turtle" AKA baby pool for the little ones.

The Activities Dept AKA The Pirates are WONDERFUL with the kids. Jenn, :cloud9: Sonia, Peter, Jeremy & Matthew are our family favorites.

There are daily activities ** from crafts, tye dye, basketball games, pool games, camp fire story, tiny tot play time, ice cream sundaes ($2 per sundae) or you can buy a sundae mug good for the whole week, cane pole fishing, DJ & our personal favorite, HOT PEPPER who comes 1 time a week & he plays Jamaican music!
(** Not sure if the new schedule has come out yet)

Marriott owners get a GREAT deal on the 18 Hole Miniture Putt of Course for the week ... I think it is around $45 for everyone in your villa for unlimited golf for your weeks' stay.

The GM Chris & his entire staff are wonderful! IF you go there, tell them David, Judy & girls say hi:wave:.

Hope this answered most of your questions.
Can you tell that I am a VERY :cheer2: Happy Horizons owner?

Judy

Judy, Thank you for all of the great info. My Mother just joined a vacation club that includes Marriott. I can't believe how beautiful the villas look. We are planning a trip in early Dec. Do you know if the pools are heated? I really don't want this to be a WDW vacation. I want to rest and swim. My kids are 4 and 5 so the pirate ship would excite them. Is this a resort that we could stay at with out needing WDW for our constant entertainment. Maybe we would go to the parks 2 or 3 days out of the 7. You are lucky to be able to spend so much time at a place that you truely love. Good for you!
TIA,
Tara ;)

Yes, you could stay at this resort with just a few days at WDW. We spent our 4 weeks @ Horizons with NO parks included. There is plenty to do to keep the kids happy & worn out. My dh & I switch times watching the kids so we both have "down" time. He does the swimming part & I do the sundaes, crafts, games & fishing.

HTH,
Judy

We actually just stayed at the Wilderness Lodge in Jan. We had a great time but we were exhausted when we got home. I can't wait to start planning. Thank you!

Marriott doesn't heat all their pools. there will be one pool that is heated. However some Dec are fine without a heated pool.

too early to predict this Dec.

that the pirate pool will be heated. As soon as the construction is completed at Water Works it too is scheduled to be heated.

At the last owner's update, the GM was asked about the temps of the pools & that is what we were told.

One time the water was  :cold: as the heater was broken.
