I received an invite, via Delta Sky Miles program, to spend 4 nights at the Grande Vista in Orlando sometime in the next 12 months ($199). Has anyone ever stayed there? Of cource, it's a promo event that would entail a 90 minute presentation on their vacation club. It sounds like it would be a nice thing to do prior to a DVC stay.

Any insight and/or advice would be welcome.

The Marriotts in Orlando are very nice and in a great location, not far from Disney and Sea World. I stayed in a 2 bedroom at the Marriott Cypress Harbor. I thought it was even more spacious than OKW. I believe that the Grande Vista is even nicer (it's newer).

Only you can decide if it's worth it to you to sit through a timeshare presentation.

Something to look out for. I think I received the same offer through the mail. If I remember correctly, the offer was for a "guest room" which I think would be their studios? I don't that I would be interested in staying there in anything less than a 2 bedroom - maybe a 1 bedroom if the deal was great. I believe that upgrades were available for additional $$ - which would further dilute your deal.

I received this one, too. I politely declined since we have DVC and we couldn't extend our stay in Orlando, so he offered somewhere closer to me, which was somewhere in New Jersey. I had up to a year to use it and had to sit through a 90 minute presentation.

I told him to email me the information, and he did. It looked like a very nice resort, but I hate being pressured and I know that if I sat through that presentation I would feel very guilty for not buying. And I would know beforehand that we would'nt be buying. DVC's enough for us. I know I shouldn't feel guilty since they came to me, but I would!

If you think you could handle the presentation, I would say go for it!

We own both DVC and Grande Vista. The Marriott presentation is very low key and you get out in 90 minutes. We have put many friends and family names in and they get this offer and we try to book our week to coincide with their visiit so we have had alot of experience with presentation. The only complaint we ever got was from my brother in law as his wife really wanted to buy in and he didn't! The Grande Vista is a beautiful resort in a great location... Try it, you will not be sorry.

Like the previous poster, I own Marriott and DVC. Marriott's sales presentations are fairly low-key (they don't want to drive people away from staying at Marriott hotels.) If that's for a studio, it's not such a great deal. Orlando Marriotts have been fairly easy to book this past year for a fairly low rate by going to the Marriott website and entering M11 in the Promotional Code box (you need a Rewards Number which you can get online.) Grande Vista is very nice. Then units are a little smaller than Cypress Harbour which compares to Old Key West.

Both the Grand Vista and Cypress Harbor are excellent resorts. If you want additional detail you check out the www.tug2.net.

The Marriott Vacation Club is first class and is comparable to DVC. The sales presentations are very low key. Marriott has a lot to offer. However, if you do go on a presentation and you are considering a purchase I would look into a resale. You will receive a wealth of information via tug. The membership is nominal $ 10.00 per year. It covers all elements of timesharing including DVC. Good luck!

I hope that the Grande Vista lives up to expectations, because the family and I will be staying there next summer. They had a promo on the Marriott site for the Grande Vista that gave you five days/ four night plus two tickets for "swim with the Dolphins" at Discovery cove for $599. Since those DC admissions are worth $229 (EACH) :earseek: at that time of year that makes the room cost for four nights $141 (studio). That's only $35 a night !

The CSR also stated that we could also upgrade to a larger room for an additional charge. I think it was $129 for a 1-bedroom and $199 for a 2-bedroom. I think we will probably go for the 2 bedroom unit - $85 / night for that size at Grande Vista is somewhat hard to pass up ;) !

And , with any luck, this will be following five nights at OKW, mostly spent swimming at the WDW waterparks. It's a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it :smooth: .
