Marriott Grande Vista?

Anyone have recent experience with Marriott Grande Vista resort? DH, myself and DS (will be 9) are thinking about it for next June, 2009.
Any and all opinions are welcome,but I am also curious about:
What are the renovations that are happening there?
Do any of the pools have slides?
Will a 9 year old like it?
How far to the WDW parks?
How far to Sea World?
Good restaurants close by?

We stayed there this past oct. It was very nice but we actully liked marriott horizons better. Have you looked into horizons at all? It has a waterslide-smaller water park and is pirate themed. Grande vista has no water slides. It also is very close to sea world as is grande vista. Let me know if you have any questions

THey are doing renovations to the main reception and clubhouse area. I beleive it should be completed by June of 2009, though not 100% sure.

Do any of the pools have slides?

No slides at any of the pools. The pools are great, though it if is slides and games you want for children, then Horizons is the best bet.

Will a 9 year old like it?

It is a great resort with lots of childrens activities. A 9 year old would like it, but may like Horizons better.

How far to the WDW parks?

About 10-20 minutes drive, depending on what park you are going to

How far to Sea World?

Five minutes, max.

Good restaurants close by?

There are plenty of restaurants withing 5 to 10 minutes drive. It is in a quieter area of I-Drive, the restaurants are easy to drive to. They have one onsite.
