I am staying at the Marriott Grande Vista for my honeymoon from dec 9-19:santa: , i was hoping someone might have some pictures of the rooms. (hotel websites can always be deceiving) Any other tips or comments about the hotel would be great also!

Go to tripadvisor.com and put in the resort, you can then look at candid photos from people who have reviewed the hotel.

Good luck,

Steve

And look at the Grande Vista site at Marriott Vacation Club. Lot's of pictures and information about the resort. www.mvci.com

I just returned from Marriott Grande Vista, you will be very happy there. Most of the pictures that I looked at didn't do it justice! I think most of the Villas and Studios have been refurbished. The countertops in the kitchen are now a dark granite, and the furniture and carpet appeared to be recently updated. The bedding was all updated too. The screened porch is nice, a relaxing place to sit in the evening. You won't be disappointed.

Hi! Does anyone know where I can find a resort map? :confused3 I am staying there in October (exchange through II) and would love to get a look at the layout of the property. I found a map that someone posted in 05 but it doesn't have the new buildings/pools on it.

Plus - for anyone who has stayed recently - where would you recommend? I think we want to be near the new pool for the kids.

Thanks! Amy

Is the updated bedding the same as the new bedding they are putting in all the marriotts now? The cloud bed ...as i like to call it.

Other members keep telling me that I am making a mistake by staying off property the whole time. I have a feeling though, since we are going to be there for 10 days, and are going to be going to universal as well ..the vista is a good option. Do you guys think I should stay at the grande vista in the big villa, or split the days and stay on property too. I dunno, I got a really good rate on the villa. It is hard to justify moving to a small room on property for more money.

Dismomamy- how long are you staying? and are you staying there the whole time?

I stayed there last year and this year I am at Marriott Cypress Harbour. You are NOT making a mistake. Request a renovated room although we did not have one and it was still wonderful. I have stayed at a lot of resorts and Grande Vista is one of the great ones. IMHO staying on site is the same as taking a match and setting a couple extra hundred dollar bills on fire. I was a died in the wool on site person until I stayed off site my first time. WOW! When I entered my first villa (Sheraton Vistana Village) I actually became afriad. I could not imagine that this deluxe villa could only be 119.00 per night ( this was 8 yeaers ago)even though that was the price we reserved! WE were afraid to ask the price b/c we thought it would ruin our vacation. We paid the same offsite for a two bedroom livingroom two bathroom with screened balcony resort as we would to stay at the Carribean Beach and it was gated.

Trust me offsite is the only way to go. We now stay off site for two weeks instead of on site for 1 week same price! I have been offsite for the past 9 years and NEVER looked back unless it was to count how much more I could get for so much less.

Hi Kelly25 - We are going down on October 4th - 10th. I haven't stayed on-site since I was a kid. We are staying in a 2BR for the whole time. We have 4 other family members meeting up with us for 2-3 nights so we definitely need the space. I thought about staying on-site this year, but concluded that we needed the van. DS6 has autism and when we leave the parks we can't be spending an hour riding around on public transportation. The condo costs about $500 for the week(adding up the annual maintenance fee for our home resort, our annual II fee and the exchange fee) which beats what it would have cost to stay on-site. Plus our family can come visit for free! (Maybe they'll buy us dinner - on-site!!) And we can eat some meals in our room. This is our first visit to MGV - it looks much nicer than other places we have stayed!

Hi, We come in on October 5th and leave on the 13th. My extended family is staying together in a 3 bdrm villa that we couldn't touch at 600+$ per night on site. we are paying half that amount and are to be near the pools. I can't wait! It looks beautiful and we requested a refurbished room since my sister is alittle bit of a freak about "new". Seems like we will all be happy!:thumbsup2

Kelly25 - Congrats on your upcoming wedding! I too am staying there for my honeymoon (end of Sept) - and from what I hear the place is quite nice. I also struggled with the whole "off site" thing, but from the looks of the property it appears to have romantic possibilities! :thumbsup2
