My wife and I will be staying at MGV for two weeks from the end of September. The previous two years we have stayed at Cypress Harbour and Wyndham Palms. How does this resort compare. I am showing concern due to one or two adverse reports I have seen. I have been told that MGV is of a better standard than CH and is certainly better than WP.

We are staying in a one bedroom apartment as anyone got any suggestions has to where the best location is on site.

Looking forward to receiving you advice

I knew that one post would spread panic among people with reservations here.

I can tell you that we loved building 91, nonsmoking on the 6th floor overlooking a quiet pool, golf course and water. It was a 5 minute walk to the main pool and lobby.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, impeccable landscaping and immaculate villa.

This is one negative experience out of 100's here, if everyone was agreeing and sharing the same opinions, I'd be a bit hesitant, but this is not the case.

I would suggest however, not staying by the new pool complex because there is still ongoing construction going on here, you may be inconvenienced by noise. It sounds like they still have some issues to work out with the new area.

If you stay on the other side of the lake closer to the main pool I don't think you will be dissappointed.

Hope this helped :D

You could hear the music from the new pool at the old "main" pool. The music and announcements were quite loud.
The grounds leading past the tennis courts were well kept. The buildings past the former main pool are the ones in dire need of work. Many of these have received new countertops, bed linens, etc. The resort is still way above most properties in Orlando, but is not as pristine as it was on prior visits.
Timeshare owners are going to be placed in the new buildings, which is fine- as all of the timeshare tours are going to this building. The construction was quiet and very low key.
If you smoke, you will love the locations near the quiet pools.
My family and I have stayed here 4X and enjoyed all of our prior stays. My post was just a review that all is not perfect at MGV.

I haven't stayed at the other properties you mentioned, but I've stayed at MGV (May 2004) as well as many other timeshare/condos around Disney and MGV was among the very nicest we've visited. We were in building 82 which was very close to the main hub/pool/food. You could see and hear the construction across the lagoon, but it didn't begin early and it was not intrusive. Our one-year-old was able to nap through it every afternoon.

I thought our villa was the cleanest, most nicely furnished I have stayed in in the Orlando area. We found the grounds to be very nicely landscaped and well-kept. My only two complaints were that there were not more food options available (one restaurant we didn't try, a small convenience store and a pizza window) and that the main pool got pretty crowded, but that has probably been eased by the opening of the second major pool area.

Overall we were very pleased with MGV and I would definitely recommend it. I don't think you have anything to worry about, but if you're dissatisfied with your villa, we found the service to be good and you likely could be moved to another location.
