Planning a 3 night stay in March for my birthday for my family of 4 -- me, DH, DD22, and DS17. I currently have a King Suite waterpark view (1 king in 1 room and twin bunk beds in another room) booked at the Marriott Courtyard Theme Park hotel. I liked this option for the *2* showers (OMG this is awesome!) and the fact that the "kids" (yes, at 22 and 17 I still refer to them as my kids) each get their own beds vs. sharing a pull-out sofa in a typical suite room or a queen bed in a typical hotel room.

My question... are the bunk beds okay for a 22 year old girl (she's tiny) and a 17 year old boy (he's not tiny but not huge either)? Are they standard twin mattress size, or smaller fit for children? Is this resort more geared toward families with younger kids or would it be okay for us? The waterpark probably isn't a huge draw for us, but the proximity to DLR and size of the room definitely appeals to us. We are most likely to spend all day until closing at the parks, so pools aren't a huge deal for us either.

This hotel is a bit pricey, and for around the same price, I can get standard room at the PPH. But this would be for a standard room with 2Q beds, so definitely less space. Yes, we would be onsite but with older kids being in the bubble isn't a biggie for us, and the early park hours wouldn't matter for my "sleep until noon" family either (of course, this being *my* birthday weekend, I'll "encourage" them to wake up earlier).

Stayed a couple years ago at the Residence Inn near the convention center, but it's a bit of a further walk and only 1 shower :-) Yes they have breakfast, but we are happy to eat cereal or something quick in our room in the morning. Also, there is a possibility that my daughter's boyfriend might join us, in which case they will find their own accommodations and I'll have to re-think our options as well.

Anyhow, thanks for any feedback!

I haven't stayed at the Marriott, but I have stayed at the PPH. Most of the standard rooms have 2 queens and a twin sofa bed -- hard to explain but probably closest to a futon shape. So that would be 3 beds ... but still only 1 shower.

From the photo on this site they appear to be twin beds.

I stayed in one of the suites that had the twin bunk beds a while ago. It seemed like a standard sized twin bed to me.

The shower situation was kind of odd...it does have two showers (at least the suite we were in did have two showers), but it wasn't really design for two adults to be showering at the same time. I think it's mostly for one adult and someone to be bathing children. The walk in shower is in the same room as the toilet and is behind a real door. The other was a shower/tub combo in the area with the sink. The person showering in the shower could be guaranteed privacy, but the person in the tub/shower combo is only private if no one is in the toilet/shower room.

We stayed there in 2017 and I slept in the bottom bunk. I am 5ft 4 and was very comfortable. We travel with our teenage son and this hotel is not kiddish except the pool area, which we didn't use. DH and I would have a drink at bistro and sit at the firepit. No kids around :)
The location is great and it is a clean and friendly property.

The twin beds are pretty tiny - I mean if you're only sleeping there that's fine, but I'm not entirely sure they are regular sized twin beds. My 8 and 5 year old slept in them last time and they were perfect size for kids. They just seemed very small...maybe it's just the crawling in and out.

We have also done the RI regularly and if you don't mind walking, it's an awesome free breakfast. It is nice for everyone to have their own bed though (which is why we usually choose CY when we can.)

that's true! I liked that we could use the sink and mirrors while someone was on the toilet though. I think only used the tub to soak our tired feet!

We stayed here recently and the 5'9" skinny 14 year old thought the bunk bed was plenty big and comfortable. And we liked the bathroom, thought it's not as good two separate bathrooms with showers.

Thank you! I saw a room and bathroom configuration (maybe it was on the hotel website). Very true about lack of privacy for the person showering in the room with the tub, so if 2 were showering at the same time, we'll probably need to coordinate or time it right. :-) But it does make it convenient if "somebody" is taking too long in the room with the toilet, so somebody else can still shower.

I think that might be it... the bunk beds do seem to be regular twins, but the fact that you would need to climb over and up might make them appear smaller. I would think that since DH and I are the ones paying, the kids get what then get and can be thankful we aren't making them sleep together in a pull-out sofa. :-)

Thank you!

Great to know! Thank you!

And who knows... my kids are goofballs and might even go for a water slide.

The beds are normal twin size mattresses, but there is not much clearance between the bottom bed and the top one. My teen almost hit her head a couple of times because she forgot. I do love that hotel for the double showers!
