Marriage: The Trip Report - Update 2/28 - Final Thoughts & Link to Disneyland TR!

What is it with kids and sand. We had 1 night at the Dolphin and all Madeline wanted to do was play in the sand. There was 1 palm tree to huddle under for shade. I was sharing that one palm tree with 2 families while we all watched our kids try to build sand castles in dry sand. lol

I love the photopass picture of you guys. :)

We left off after Soarin' and we were crossing the park to use up our Test Track FP's. Now, if you recall, Henry did not really enjoy this ride from our first night-but, I hadn't fully noticed that he had been scared-he just went quiet, which, at the time, I figured was because he was a bit tired. So I didn't think twice of bringing him on this time....and he didn't hesitate jumping into line either-so I thought all was well!

Hidden Mickey!

When we got to our numbered squares, the CM working the queue started to play a game with Henry and the numbered squares - basically quizzing him on his numbers, while we waited. What a very cool CM! I mentioned, in passing, that Test Track was his favorite - and she gave us our FPs back so we could ride again! :yay:

Soon it was our turn and we started to zip around the ride.

1210369023_gA8AE-L.jpg

In the heat room...he always does this! LOL

1210370005_eDPmM-L.jpg

In the cold room. Brrrrr!

1239897246_zX5PG-L.jpg

And after the ride, of course, we had to check out the cars!

1210370803_AGqso-L.jpg

Safety first!

And the dump shop

1210371557_oiQyB-L.jpg

1210372326_vi4Sb-L.jpg

After we left the shop we told Henry we could ride again...YAY!

But...he refused.

He completely shut down.

In my notes I wrote, "H was a bit testy and didn't want to ride????? No idea why!"

I was a bit confused and bummed, we tried to convince him a bit, but it was a no go and almost resulted in a melt-down, so we weren't going to force him. (but look at that PhotoPass pic - he was obviously scared! :guilty: I hadn't really looked at our picture at the time, just scanned the card and moved on.)

He requested Peter Pan.

 Wrong park!

BUT! We had those FPs that the CM had given us the previous day, and they expired today...and there is a monorail...so why not??? Let's GO!

While on the monorail Henry started to get completely nutty and hyper, while I was fading...isn't that how it always works?! Kid is ready and raring to go, while the parents are falling asleep! :rotfl:

Soon we arrived:

Onward to Pan!

One very happy boy about to ride to Neverland!

"Let's fly!"

After we landed, we tried to convince Henry to do Pirates, but he was very fussy about it and adamantly did NOT want Pirates. On our previous trip one of the cannon balls from the ship actually got us a teeeeeeny bit wet and he remembered that...and didn't like it. (and as many of you know, later in this trip we bribed him onto Pirates - and he's now obsessed...matter of a fact he and his friend are playing pirates right now as I type this! But we'll get to that later in the trip...)

So, instead of Pirates we were off to Buzz!

While waiting in line Henry is literally bouncing off the walls. He's completely wired and wild and not obeying...which just made my tired self completely irritated and almost resulted in a Mommy Meltdown, but we survived.

1210391688_LQiQ8-L.jpg

After Buzz he is D-O-N-E. It's like a switch. Wired to tired. I was more than fine with that! I was at the end of myself for the night. We walked back over to Pan and gave away the couple of FPs we had left, then headed for the Castle.

As we walked through a door popped open and Ariel stuck her head out!!! There were lots of guests in the little room she was peeking out from. I had no idea what that room was for or what was going on. Since I've been home I found out that little room is where the elevator to go to the Cinderella Suite is! Apparently Ariel was crashing Cindy's pad with her friends for the night!

As we walked out of the Castle the Kiss Goodnight started, so we paused and enjoyed that

1210396750_hifqn-L.jpg

Not sure why that little screen was there?

1210397649_scCay-L.jpg

Video: Kiss Goodnight (1:15) - it's not great, there were a lot of people around us talking, so you can't hear the audio very well. But you kinda get an idea!

And on Main Street I spotted this

1210401538_A4GEG-L.jpg

Pretty clever.

At the buses, the line for the Boardwalk is CRAZY long, but a Yacht Club/Beach Club bus comes first, so we get on that. The bus driver was from Minnesota a hoot. The bus was full, with people standing, so at every turn he'd shout out "Hard left, everyone say 'Whooooooooooooa!'" and everyone complied. It made the very full bus ride a bit more bearable.

At the Beach Club another guest asked about how to get to the Boardwalk, and he decided he'd just take us there since there were quite a few of us! Woot!

We got into our room at 10:55 pm. I was exhausted, I had a blister on my toe and I'm just feeling a bit off...like I was missing the magic for some reason-despite our fun night. I wasn't sure why - but figured it was most likely due to just being tired and having to deal with a wild child at the Magic Kingdom. Hopefully a good night's sleep would make for a happy boy and a happy Momma.

Uh-oh, this does not bode well!

Awesome! Can you ever really have enough FP's? Nope.

Oh dear, this is NOT the look of a confident rider!

And after the ride, of course, we had to check out the cars!

So cute!

Oh man! How frustrating. Especially with those FP's burning a hole in your pocket! But yes, looking at that picture, well, it clearly shows Henry isn't too enamoured with TT!

He requested Peter Pan.

Excellent choice Henry! :thumbsup2

 Wrong park!

BUT! We had those FPs that the CM had given us the previous day, and they expired today...and there is a monorail...so why not??? Let's GO!

 You're a much better mom than me, I'd have probably said no!

While on the monorail Henry started to get completely nutty and hyper, while I was fading...isn't that how it always works?! Kid is ready and raring to go, while the parents are falling asleep! :rotfl:

This is so true! I can't tell you how many times DH and I are literally dragging our behinds at the end of the day and our girls are running/skipping/laughing at full speed! If only I could tap into that kind of energy source every once in a while!

Onward to Pan!

"Let's fly!"

Super sweet picture of Henry with Joe looking fondly at him. Very cute!

While waiting in line Henry is literally bouncing off the walls. He's completely wired and wild and not obeying...which just made my tired self completely irritated and almost resulted in a Mommy Meltdown, but we survived.

Been there, done THAT! I can see it so clearly Brook. You're not alone! At least your meltdown wasn't in search of an elusive Boardwalk community hall/center! ;) That's never happened before, right?

Aw, when they're that little, it is literally like flipping a switch. I love the phrase coined...wired to tired!!

I had no idea what that room was for or what was going on. Since I've been home I found out that little room is where the elevator to go to the Cinderella Suite is! I'm sure it was the Castle after party!

Not sure why that little screen was there?

Is that from the memories clips they show before Wishes??

And on Main Street I spotted this

1210401538_A4GEG-L.jpg

Pretty clever.

Cool! He was a handsome dude when he was younger, wasn't he?

At the Beach Club another guest asked about how to get to the Boardwalk, and he decided he'd just take us there since there were quite a few of us! Woot!

Yay for awesome bus karma!!

I'm sure it was all just a flukey day too. Sometimes vacations are weird like that, aren't they? I know I've had my share. But I hope you took care of that blister!

Up next: A Big Small World DIS Meet!

Looking forward to it!:goodvibes

I think the screen is for the Magic, Memories, and You show.

I've seen videos of the Kiss Goodnight on youtube before. It seems like a really cool way to end the night. So cute! :goodvibes Too bad I'm never out late enough for anything like that. :rotfl:

After seeing this picture, I had to go and look at our most recent TT picture.

Photo0262FourBySix.jpg

It kinda looks like my DS doesn't like the ride either, but he never complains. Now he also never asks to ride it again. I did just ask him if he liked TT and he said yes and I asked if it scares him and he said no not really, just sometimes the hot room. But nothing else. So who knows, little boys are hard to understand sometimes...actually boys of all ages are hard to understand. TT is a ride that I can take it or leave it, so riding it one time is good enough for me. But now when my DS had issues this last time on riding EE a second time with me, I was like what I thought you loved EE, which I have a picture with his hands up to prove it and he was only 4 then. But I think EE was running super fast that day, is that even possible? I just know that I love it and for some reason that day it seemed to be faster and more intense. Thoughts?

Loving the TR. I love that you guys were in Epcot and Henry wanted Peter Pan, so you guys just hip hopped over there. One day when we have annual passes or spring for the the park hopper again, we will do that. Until then I keep my DS thinking about riding rides in a certain order or at a certain time. Takes some of the fun out of it though. I really like your way better.

So cool about your bus driver dropping you guys off and his attitude. It's amazing how just a small thing like that can make a day even brighter at Disney.

I was a few updates behind but I will write what I remember. I really should take notes. In particular order here they are.

Jon had the turkey and cheese sandwich from the CS in France and he loved it. I fact he has started making the same sandwich here at home.

Lexi wanted to go on Test Track and we went all the way through and then we she changed her mind. So Jon went and then I went. (It was a walk on so we didn't have to wait.)

Lexi and Henry would get along very well as they both love to dig.

We loved the strawberry shortcake too!!!!

Awww poor little Henry  He does look a bit scared on TT....hopefully he gets excited about it again...I remember how he was so thrilled to be able to ride that and Soarin :goodvibes
Just love his pictures with his scrunched up nose!!! Always makes me smile!! :goodvibes
You sure packed a lot into you day...now to sleep with dreams of digging in the sand ;)

Tracy

Awww. Poor Henry looks so scared. I swear the older they get , the more logical they get and then start becoming scared of rides the loved in the past. Jack's that way. He doesn't want to ride anything fun. I'm hoping his friend will influence him some this trip. If not I will be riding with the BFF since his parents don't like the "thrill" rides either. I guess we are making our own child swap. lol

I totally would have hopped over to MK to ride PP also. Sometimes it's just got to be about the kids. :rolleyes1

Ok so I have to ask, who's Ron Miller:confused3

Wired to Tired. That should be a patented phrase. :lmao::lmao:

Poor little guy does look terrified! Wonder what caused the switch? They are hard to figure out at that age!

Awwwww, he is a boy after my own heart though with his love for Peter Pan :goodvibes

Wired to Tired. That should be a patented phrase. :lmao::lmao:

:lmao: So true! Do little girls do this, too? Or is it just little boys?

And boy did you cover a lot of ground that day! I'm impressed by your stamina. And how do you get Henry to stay up so late? Although, Max has been staying up much later since the time changed, but I still want your secret! :rotfl:

:lmao: So true! Do little girls do this, too? Or is it just little boys?

I don't think it's gender specific! My youngest was notorious for going full speed and then wham! She'd pass out in the stroller or daddy's arms. Honestly, she'd konk out so fast, I'd check her breathing to make sure she was actually alive! Oh how much I'd get done in one day if I had that kind of energy.:sad2:

That was very nice of you to go to MK for Peter Pan! I can't say with absolute certainty that I would have done the same, especially when tired ("but it's all the way over thereeeee!")

I'm glad that Peter Pan did cheer Henry up! Rides can be totally different in the dark!

Or how rich we could be if we could bottle it and sell it!

Definitely looks like Henry was giving TT a thumbs down in that photo.

More scrunched up face pics - sooo cute!

What a nice mom and dad to park hop for just a few rides! :goodvibes Love the lit-up night manager window. There are still so many details I have not noticed - one of the many reasons we have to keep going back! :thumbsup2

Jordan (my DD) does not get wild but when she hits the wall very quickly and it is all over when that happens.

Wow, you are a posting machine!! Probably because you know you've got a few more days left on this TR :rolleyes1, you've got ANOTHER solo TR that you'll end up writing, AND a PTR for your upcoming TA trip!!! Post away, my friend, post away!:goodvibes

So, TT wasn't a winner that night. So sorry about H not feelin' it. It looks like you're ready to ROCK though!
side note:Am I a completely clueless DISer and did not know that you can get ride photos on your PhotoPass card??:confused3 If that's the case, I missed out on some pretty awesome photos from our April trip.:sad1:

Wow, the crowds in that MK picture look pretty fierce!! Glad that PPF made him a happy guy.

Have awesome bus driver, will travel! I agree that they truly make the full bus rides more bearable.

I'm so sorry Henry has had a change of heart about TT. Something about being 3 gives them fears.

You are the bestest mommy ever to hop right on over to MK just to ride Peter Pan. I don't know if I would have been able to do that.

I love the wired to tired phrase. It reminds me of Michelle (almost 21) when she was little. The more tired she got the more hyper she got. If she sat down she was out. One Halloween after walking the neighborhood collecting candy she was wired. She literally ran around the living room in circles. As soon as she sat still she was out.

I hope you got some good rest and woke up the next morning with your happy hat on.

Did Henry ever tell you why he didn't like TT? Thats so weird. You would think it would be right up his alley!

side note:Am I a completely clueless DISer and did not know that you can get ride photos on your PhotoPass card??:confused3 If that's the case, I missed out on some pretty awesome photos from our April trip.:sad1:

Only on Test Track.
