HI All!

i need a little help. first some background. I am a first year medical student and my gf just started a career in business. my gf and I were at WDW for 10 days in may and loved it. i was thinking about proposing to her while there but i didnt bc i wanted to wait to see how things with school went and also we planned on marrying in my 4th year so i didnt think she would want to have a long engagement. (we have been together for 5 yrs already) however, after a month of school i realized that she is the one and i would drop everything for her and also during a conversation we had she said it wouldnt bother her being engaged for 3 yrs or so. Sooooo....i am going to propose to her before the end of the year. I want it to be really special but i figure my best chance passed me by in may.

So i was thinking of flying us down to WDW early 12/16 and returning late 12/17 (weekend only bc she cant take off from work). Do you think its feasible to do this? We dont have to do everything bc we were just there. I think I can get air/Disney hotel/ and tix for $925.

1)I know its busy that time of year so is there anything special i should do for arrangements? Also what would be a dont miss? Do we need special tix?

2) Whats the best place to propose with all the holiday atmosphere? I was thinking is front of the Castle or the Rose garden (she loves Cinderella) or maybe the Osbourne lights (she loves XMas lights)

Sorry for a long post but if I do this I really want to do it right. I would appreciate ANY ideas or helpful tips.

Ok i have to study so I have time with by baby tonight!

Ah, how romantic of you! Ok, I can't take credit for this as I read it a few days ago on these boards.....but go to the wishing well at MK and suggest making wishes. Have her wish first. Then when you make your wish, get down on your knees and say you wish for her to be your wife and hold out the ring. It just sounds so sweet and romantic!!!!!! Do it before the fireworks!

Congratulations! First you need to take into account what kind of person your gf is - would she like to be proposed to in front of a bunch of people, or would she rather you kept it private with no one around? If she is the first type, you can't beat proposing in front of Cinderella's Castle during Wishes. That's the most romantic setting ever. If she's more private and would like the moment between the two of you, maybe you can do something along the lines of what my DF did - we went on a romantic carriage ride around our resort (Port Orleans Riverside) and then took a romantic stroll slowly back to our room just as the lights were coming on around the resort. We walked into the huge courtyard outside our room with a fountain all lit up - He pretended to pose me for a picture, but instead go down on one knee. Either way, the possibilities are ENDLESS! Good luck! :goodvibes

First congratulations!

The suggestions listed above are great. I would also recommend that you post your question on the Weddings/Honeymoon forum here for some help.

In reading through those theads, I recall one person who was proposing at the wishing well and was able to make quick arrangements with a cast member photographer to follow them and capture the moment!

Best of luck - and do you think you could talk my boyfriend into doing this?! :teeth:

1st of all: AAAWWWWWWWWWW

2nd: I love the idea of asking during wishes infront of everyone. But i know not EVERYONE would. You really need to think about what your girlfriend likes and doesnt like.

3rd: You should ask her (generically, of course) where her favorite spot in disney world is. You'll have to wait for the right moment, but take mental note. Because as long as its her favorite spot, nothing will be more romantic to her than that.

Maybe you could arrange for Cinderella to be there to be the 1st to say congrats or something since your girlfriend likes her so much (i dont blame her, she's one of my fave too!).

Whatever you decide, GOOD LUCK!!!! and congratulations!

wow, i really appreciate all the ideas and congrats! Do you have any suggestions as to the time period we are going? Like what we shouldnt miss at the holiday season and if we would need any special tix. Does anyone feel that just a weekend trip (SAT AM to SUN PM) wont work?? I really appreciate all the thoughts, thiank you so much!!!!

Have you seen cinderella's slipper made out of white chocolate? You may be able to use this some way if you do it at dinner. Maybe at dinner in the castle! Congratulations!!! :cheer2:

Something I would consider would be to take her to a nice dinner at the 'California Grill' atop the Contemproy Resort. Make sure its dark. When the fireworks begin at the Magic Kingdom, the lights will dim at the California Grill. Right when the fireworks begin, is when I would go for it! GOOD LUCK!!!

hmmm we ate there in may and it was great to see the fireworks form the observation deck. this is another good option to think about

Congratulations!!

If you do a proposal during Wishes, in front of the Castle...maybe you could somehow have a PhotoPass member take pictures of the magical moment.

Also, what about a dinner at Cinderellas Royal Table and having the ring in the dessert somehow?

I think you have a lot of great ideas on here so far to get you thinking.....

The only thing I was going to suggest, is there any possible way you can extend the trip? $900+ seems so expensive for just one nights stay. Maybe you could call her work and let her boss know of your plans to propose, I'm sure you'd hit a soft spot and they'd be willing to arrange something so she could miss a day of work. I guess it depends on where you are coming from too...we're from NJ so flying to FL for a 1 nights stay would be probably be too short.

I just think you'll find that by the time you arrive, check into your resort, get to the parks, etc you won't have much time to enjoy yourselves. I think one extra day would really break up the craziness of rushing around.

Whatever you decide to do...good luck!!

If she can't take off of work, maybe you could fly down that Friday night, this way you can get up early and head to the parks and have a full day on Saturday to explore?

Go to giftsofalifetime.com. I used them when i proposed earlier this year. they have alot of stuff they offer for special occasions. I would def. use them. check it out. if you have any questions feel free to ask me. :thumbsup2

if she is into fish and stuff, you can propose at the corral reef and have the diver hold the sign, thats says will you marry me? (if you have a hard time asking)
thats very romantic and they are more than willing to do that for special occasions such as this.

First of all, if you were any sweeter, diabetics would have to completely avoid your posts.

Second, if she loves XMas lights, I gotta say there's something magical about the Osborne Lights. My suggestion?

Get there about twenty minutes before they throw the switch. The first time I saw the Osborne lights, I did this and it's amazing. First, there's the music - then it starts snowing, then they tell the story of the lights and then when the lights come on....it's amazing. I get a bit weepy just thinking about it. The last time I did it, I remember seeing couples dancing on the Streets of America to the Christmas Music. So, my suggestion? After the lights go on, propose. The "snow" will be falling, the lights will be on, the music will be playing.

Find a good spot, where you can see the lights really well, but something significant as well. Scope out the place.

Anyway, that's my suggestion. :sunny:

No ideas but our 17 anniversary is Dec. 16, 2006; just wanted to say best wishes! :wizard:

so i casually brought up the idea of disney in december as a weekend trip and she seemed really excited saying she might even be able to take the 18 or 19th off too to make it a 3 day trip. its not definite yet but im having a pretty good feeling we can go, although we might miss MVMCP. But i think Ive narrowed down my proposal ideas to at the Osbourne lights (her face was glowing when she saw a pic of it), at the wishing well (more private), or at MVMCP (bc of the Christmas atmosphere). I'll keep you all informed and I appreciate all your help! Any suggestions/thoughts keep them coming!!
