Hi Ladies, While I am sitting here all swine flu-y I figured I would get on the wedding ball lol! I seem to have lost the post on here about doing your marriage license by mail or online. Does anyone happen to have it? Any info would be appriciated, timelines?
Thanks Everyone :)

You go through Brevard County.

http://199.241.8.125/index.cfm?FuseAction=MarriageLicenses.Forms

If you print the form for the mail-away license, you can fax it or mail it back to them. We just did this last Monday (yay!) and we got the affidavit and the license application by Friday. The only problem was that the clerk couldn't read my handwriting and wrote my DF's last name incorrectly on the form. We mailed it back Saturday and will hopefully have a corrected copy by the end of this week!

After we get that back, it says that we get the affidavit and the license application signed in front of a notary public. Once we mail that back with the $93.50 fee, they will send us our marriage license, which is then good for only 60 days.

I waited until the day we were 60 days out, and then I faxed off for everything.

Hope this helps! :thumbsup2

And I hope you feel better soon!!!

I used Say I Do wedding too....they were great. It's a little more expensive, but a little less hassle.

I didn't find that doing it myself through Brevard County was difficult at all. All you have to do is put stuff in and take it out of your mailbox, and it's FREE! :rotfl:

Both the free and paid processes require taking the license to be notarized yourself, so there's no time savings there. I'm not sure why sending paperwork to and receiving it from a service that charges $100 extra is any easier than sending it to and receiving it from the courthouse... :confused3

Thanks guys, I printed out the paper work, and now can get to filling it out!!! How long did it take you to get your marriage certificate in the mail?

Our certificate arrived about 2 weeks after the wedding. The other paperwork that we received during the process arrived in about a week (we live on the West Coast).

Okay, popping in here because I was just going to post about this and don't want to have a duplicate post...

We are 67 days out...

So... I can fill out the online form now {or not?} and mail/fax/whatev. it back and then they send me the actual application.

Once I get the actual application in the mail we fill it out/get notarized, etc and send back with payment...

Then we get the license in the mail and we have 60 days from when that license is issued to get married....

Is that correct?

So should I wait the week until we hit 60 days to fill out the first form or should I get the ball rolling now?

That is correct. :thumbsup2

I'd get the ball rolling now - I don't think they'll quibble about 7 days, and it's better to be safe than sorry with the holidays coming up.

Oh no Sam - what happened to you. I figured you were busy with your studio - I didn't know you were sick. Let me know what's up and hope you are feeling better soon.

Linda

thanks everyone I guess I'll get everything going in the next couple weeks :)

Linda, yes I caught H1N1... not fun... but I spose I am now immune to it (silver lining lol). Being around all the kiddies just makes me a big old germ magnet:lmao: I'll be back to fighting mode by the end of the week I hope:goodvibes

The only thing I was surprised about was how much back and forth there is with the paperwork. First you fill out that paper that you print, and then they type it up and send it back to you, you get it notarized and send in your photo IDs and your money, then they send it back again for your ceremony and then you send it back again after the ceremony.

Just something i wish i knew ahead of time.

Are copies of photo IDs accepted? There is no way I'm sending my only ID across the country. :scared1:

I just did this with Brevard County for our upcoming wedding and it was super-easy and fast. We decided to start the process a little past 60 days out just in case there was any kind of delay - but, we didn't want to get it too EARLY either.

We got our marriage license in the mail about 3 weeks from the date we sent the initial paperwork. Brevard County is very prompt in getting these processed.

I can't imagine what sayidoweddings.com could have done that would have been worth an extra $100.

And I'm REALLY happy that we won't have to take time out of our schedule to find a courthouse in Florida.

I found the process through Brevard County super easy also! From the time I faxed the initial papers and got them back for the wedding it took about 2.5 weeks. My bank offered free notary services and I used regular mail for every thing so it only cost $93.50 plus a couple of first class stamps!

I went through Brevard County, as well. It was quick and easy. You can scan or fax in the pre-application, but you have to mail in your notarized application, along with photocopies of your licenses. You'll get it mailed back, ready for the officiant to sign, and it's good for 60 days, so start all the filing and stuff about 65 days ahead.

I've heard that you have to pay extra for some of the other companies (like Say I Do Weddings), so it's cheaper to go through Brevard County. They're also very prompt with service and if there are any issues at all they'll call or e-mail you and accommodate appropriately. It was so much easier for us to do it this way than to drive the 2 1/2 hours to Jacksonville to have it taken care of!

oh no! i have missed you sam! sorry you got the stupid swine flu-hope you are feeling better. was wondering when you were going to update your pj.

we just started the ball rolling on our marriage license. we got it from broward county directly also. we sent in the inital paperwork and got the marriage documents that need to be signed and notarized(including the notarizing that i am a women and Df is man :lmao:) back in less than a week. i am having a friend here at work notarize it and then sending it with the 93.50 fee back to them via fed ex. it seems really easy and i heard you get the certificate/license in like 3 weeks and it is good for upto 60 days.

please update what is going on with you! you have been missed. :goodvibes

has anyone just gone to the court house and done it that way? that is what we were planning on doing the day before after we land in orlando.

Unfortunately- I also had to go to the courthouse in Osceola county (since my mail in license got accidentally thrown away:headache::eek::rotfl:) It was really simple- i had it done in a matter of minutes. There was no wait- it is a bit of a drive from the resort, but it could not have been much simpler.
