Marriage by captain

I wanted to ask a question. I have a couple of freinds that are getting married and it got me thinking. Can the captain's of the Disney cruise ships marry people? I thought I heard somewhere that and ships captain could.

DCL does not perform marriages on board. If you get "married" on a DCL ship, you are actually married before the ship sails by a JP or other local official. You then get a "ceremony" of your choice, and usually the captain presides, but you aren't officially married by the ship's Captain.

My wedding was officiated by the captain. However as mentioned before you are married in the terminal before. Still a very cool thing that happens if you are lucky. We got lucky having him because we were suppossed to have a Rev in the Bahamas doing ours on Castaway Cay Island however hurricane Frances hit.
