We are fairly adventurous eaters, and are planning on going to Sanaa, Jiko's, Le Cellier, and possibly Flying Fish. I think we'd like to try something new, but also love Ohana and Boma. What would be your choice between Marrakesh, Y&Y, the Wave, or going back to Ohana or Boma?

Also, what do you like at each?

Y&Y-The three things that interest me are the duck, the ribs, or the maple tamarind chicken. If they aren't really good or special, I can eliminate that restaurant.

We love lamb. Where have you had the best lamb?

Thanks for your help.

Yak & Yeti!!!

The ribs are awesome, in fact so awesome I had them twice on our Honeymoon. On our first visit to Y&Y my husband had the Crispy Mahi Mahi and on the second he had the duck. He did like the duck but it wasn't as awesome as the duck at San Angel, which he thought was one of the best dishes he has ever eaten.

Back to the ribs - I'm not a rib eater at all. Since my husband couldn't decide between the Crispy Mahi Mahi and the ribs we agreed that he would order the fish and I would get the ribs so he could have both. The rib portion is HUGE. The taste is WOW! The meat falls off the bone and the seasoning and sauce is perfect. The rice the serve with it is great as well.

If you consider yourself an adventurous eater then skip Marrakesh. It's lackluster Moroccan.

I have to agree with the two other posters who didn't like Marrakesh, it was one of the worst meals I've had at WDW & I will never eat there again. I've heard good things about Yak & Yeti and am planning on going there on our next trip.

Hope you don't mind me posting some pictures from Yak & Yeti. I thought it might help make up your mind.

Sorry but I'm starting with dessert.

Sorbet - my husband loved all three. It was raspberry, lemon and mango.

Fried Wontons - this was GREAT!

Pot Stickers - AWESOME! They are very close to the ones served at Ohana.

100_2550.jpg

Lettuce Cups - AMAZING!!! My husband who doesn't like veggies and the only salad he will eat is a Caesar LOVED this. He actually ordered it our second trip back to Y&Y.

Ribs - :faint: They were SOOOO good. I do not like ribs; never have found any worth the trouble of eating. The only reason I ordered them was because my husband couldn't decide between the Crispy Mahi Mahi and the ribs. I told him to get the Mahi Mahi and I'd get the ribs so he could experience both and because I don't eat fish. Boy was I glad I ordered them. YUM! I can't wait to get back for more. On our second trip to Y&Y I ordered the ribs again. Did I already tell you we gave up a LeCellier reservation to eat at Y&Y again?

Oh yeah, there is plenty to share with the ribs.

Crispy Mahi Mahi - my husband says it was awesome. He can't wait to get back and have more.

We much prefer Kona over Ohana......

But I must say, never ate at Yak and Yeti but it looks like a definite this year.

We tried The Wave in Feb. It was good but not great. I'm glad we tried it, but not sure we'd rush back there again. At least not until we've tried some other places first. They do have lettuce wraps with lamb as well as braised lamb shank but we did not order this.

Our Wave entrees :

Butternut squash soup :

We've eaten at all of these excluding the Wave. I think Y&Y and Boma are your best bet. Look at the menu though and base your decision on that. If there are a lot of choices you like - go for it.

He did like the duck but it wasn't as awesome as the duck at San Angel, which he thought was one of the best dishes he has ever eaten.

OT, but I'd love to hear more about this entree. I've asked a few times on here, & noone has replied. It sounds delicious. A review &/or pic would be very much appreciated. :flower3:

Sorry OP, I don't mean to hijack your thread. I'm just excited to see someone has tried this.

Those pics are great. Everything looks really good, making me hungry. Thanks for posting. I'll show them to my family and let them help me decide.

By the way, MiaSrn, I notice your are from Lansdale and are an L&D RN. I used to live in Quakertown, now in Birdsboro near Reading, and am also an L&D RN.

Yak & Yeti is just a glorified chinese restaurant, IMHO. We can get chinese food like that at Y & Y anywhere here at home and rather try something different.

I visited The Wave for the first time about three weeks ago and absolutely LOVED it. The atmosphere was very cool (a big comfort from the FL heat and sun) and the food was well prepared and delicious. Everything was incredibly fresh. I highly recommend it.

I wouldn't do Sanaa, Jiko, and Boma though. That's too much of the same cuisine.

Hi there Faline. Yes...Q-town is maybe 15 min north of me.
I'm an L&D nurse at Abington Hospital.

Mmm, loved yak and yeti, esp the ribs!!! AND the dessert (cream cheese wontons) was to DIE for!! I don't have an opinion on Ohana, because I liked it, didn't love it, and would for sure try something different. I agree with a PP to skip Boma this time because of your other choices (although I LOVE Boma, too!)

We loved Yak & Yeti, especially the tempura shrimp! :wizard: But, Kona is an old favorite we also enjoy lots!:cheer2:

Hopefully the OP won't mind. She seems very nice. :flower3:

Actually my husband tried this dish because some other DISers were asking about it and had not yet seen a review of it, so he was brave and gave it a try. Boy was he glad he did. He LOVED it. He says it was one of the best meals he has ever had. The duck was so tender and it melted in your mouth. I had ordered the filet and the duck was so much more tender.

You are served shredded duck with a sliced duck breast on top, all covered with the sauce and some berries on the plate as garnish - which also go well with the meat. There are no sides and no veggies with this dish. Larry didn't mind because he isn't a big veggie eater.

Here are the before and after shots:

The dried pepper was from my plate.

Did you notice how clean the fork and spoon were? He would have licked his plate clean if I had not stopped him.

Here are my husband's words to you "It's unlike any other meat you've ever had. It is like a cross between beef and pork. It is a very unique taste and flavor. The texture is more tender than pulled pork, it will literally dissolve in your mouth. You could chew it with your tongue. The chopped duck below it has the same texture as pulled pork. But the sauce makes it more amazing than any pulled pork you have ever had. The taste is far above and beyond beef and/or pork. It is a super savory sauce, with a little sweetness from the berries. You have got to eat the berries, sauce and meat together. They all play a role together. They share a special dance."

That duck looks delicious. I hesitate to order duck because it is often fatty, but that doesn't look fatty at all. I just want to eat too much, and this is a short trip for us. Not enough time to go everywhere and eat everything I want.

Oh well. There's always next time for the things I can't squeeze in.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Not sure if you are on the DP, but if you can squeeze in one of those AND even pay OOP for Boma breakfast it is sooooo worth it and will still give you that Boma treat!

By the way, I too am a Philly area "home girl" currently lost in Ohio! Grew up right at the city edge of 309 and Cheltenham Ave, small world!

Tell your DH I said thanks for taking one for the team. :cool1: I'm probably the DISer that was asking about it. As I noted earlier, I asked a few times. I'm so excited to hear his review & see the pic. It looks & sounds delicious. I can't wait to try it. :yay: Thanks again :)
