Let me start this by saying that this was the second time we have eaten at Marrakesh. The first time was so good that we were really looking forward to this time.

We spent 9 days at WDW 12/17/05 thru 12/26/05 and Marrakesh was the only dissapointment of the entire trip. We had really good dining experiences at Boma, Teppanyacki, Palio, Le Cellier, 'Ohana and 1900 Park Fair, to name a few.

Service: Non attentive waiter who was never around. Showed up and took my DS's dish away even before he was finished. Disappeared and we were not able to tell him what he did for about ten minutes. I had read reviews on this board about poor service at WDW since the DDP began. We never experience bad or inattentive service at any restaurant in 9 days except here at Marrakesh.

Food: The quality of the food was night and day different from the last time we were there. Last time we were there Marrakesh was the dining highlite of our trip. The food this time, including appetizers, was overcooked and dried out, though the rice was good.

Entertainment: On our last visit, there was live music for most of the time and the belly dancer came out for quite a long time. This time the musicians played two songs then the belly dancer came out for about 5 minutes did a turn around the dancefloor and left.

All in all it will be a long time, if ever, before we return to Marrakesh.

Wow, I was there on the same night as you and our experience was miles different. The chicken was a little dry but the appetizers were amazing (we've also been to Marrakesh before). The band and bellydancer were out the entire time we were there and even pulled some guy on the floor to dance!

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience!! :(

I've eaten at Marrakesh twice, most recenly for my 30th Birthday. Both times the food's been great...ditto the service.

Sorry to hear about your disappointing experience.

We love Tangerine Cafe and were was so excited to try Morroco's table service. We had the CP pakage. It took forever for the waitress to take our order. She would disappear for long periods of time. My 6 year old whose CP pakage cost about $12 was offered the childs menu on which nothing was more than $6. Adults got appetizer, entree, and desert. She said he only got the entree.

The chicken bastilla was very dry, but I must say the entrees were very good.

The band played only two songs, one of which the belly dancer performed to, then she disappeared. Maybe my waitress and the dancer, were the same girl and she had to quickly change in and out of uniform :scratchin

We really, really wanted to love it, but my family decided that for the$180 it cost us to eat there, there are too many other great places to try in Epcot to go back there.

The belly dancer does not perform the whole time. Usually she comes out once an hour and does a set with the musicians. In all my times that I have eaten there, this is the way it has been.

I'm sorry that you had a bad experience. I can honestly say we have always had good service and the food has been wonderful. I especially love the mint tea (hot or iced).

Sorry the OP had a poor experience. Our family's been to Marrakesh many times (at least once per trip) and we've encountered inattentive service maybe twice. The food has always been very good and that's why we keep going back. Miss Jasmine is right about the entertainment -- it's not a non-stop show.

I understand that the dancer does not perform continuously. But the dancer was only out for about 5 minutes the whole time we were there and we were there almost an hour and a half.

The first time we ate at this restaurant we were able to see two performances and they were much much longer than 5 minutes.

This is not the biggest reason we had a negative experience. The biggest reason is that the food and the service was so bad.

We had the same experience as the OP. The lesson we learned was to order our kids meals as soon as we sat down. Poor things were the last ones served and made gagging sounds at the prospect of sharing our exotic food. :scared:

IMO Epcot dining is great for adults but w/pre-schoolers we're better off at WCC type places. Not really disney's fault as much as ours but we did get reviews that Marakkesh was great for kids.

Wow -- I hate reading these bad reviews. Marrakesh is my favorite WS restaurant, and the food has always been wonderful. Service varies, but has never been a big deal.

Another bad review from me. We ate there for the first time in December. I really enjoyed the food - and that is most important - but the waiter, was HORRIBLE!!
Slowest, ever at WDW for us.

I will say the entertainment wasnt bad overall. It was loud there since its mostly just 1 big room, but we are going to give it another try in the future.

I don't think the servers are being inattentive per se. I think there may be a cultural difference in serving styles, because while our service has been good, it has been different than what we receive at other restuarants and it could be construed as inattentive. I find it more that they don't want to impede on your meal. Anyway, just something that popped into my head thinking about the middle eastern side of my family (and yes I know Morocco is not in the Middle East ;) )
