Are there Belly Dancers at the MARRAKESH RESTAURANT at Epcot ...
If so do they just dance around the tables or is there a "show?"
We LOVE the Tangierine Cafe ... it is a must do for our family everytime we go but DH thinks the menus are too similar (why pay extra to eat inside when you can get the same stuff outside, that is what he says.)
We are looking for fun ethic things to do with our kids (we have done the Teppanyaki and that was alot of fun.)
Is there a site that you can see pics of the restaurant or a virutal show?
Thanks,
Bronte

There is a belly dancer on stage. I think for approx 15 minutes every hour. She sometimes ask people to join her. My DS3 danced with her without being asked. ( I think he has a thing for Jasmine :rolleyes1 ). Try lunch..they usually have a special that is affordable. We thought the food was great! :yay:

We eat there a lot, hubby is Moroccan and the kids love the food. The dancer and a couple of musicians come out periodically and there is a floor show. I think the show times are listed in the times guide you can get when you enter the park. The menus are not all that similar.

Oh if all you are interested in is the belly dancer Mo'Roccin has a show on World Showcase Promenade that is very good. They do a cover of the dessert rose song that Sting and Cheb Mami had a hot with several years ago.

Good show, would not rush back for the food .

Can you elaborate on that? I am thinking of going to Marrakesh for lunch one day as DBF and I really enjoy this kind of food but if its not worth it I will possibly reconsider and go with Rose and Crown instead...

It is very different food from what you are used to. A lot of Americans I find don't really care for it. I am used to it cause I get similar at home (if hubby wants Moroccan food he or his cousin has to cook ) Lamb is featured heavily on the menu and lamb is not a very popular meat in this country. They use for example cinnamon and powdered sugar in one dish that is an appetizer. It is called Bastilla. It consists of chicken and scrambled eggs with seasonings in a phyllo pastry dusted with powdered sugar. Strange to the American pallet. There is also a seafood Bastilla on one of the combo meals.

We were there on Friday, and I have to say, we were somewhat disappointed. We, too, LOVE Tangierine Cafe, and were not all that impressed with Marrakesh. We really, really wanted to be~but we thought the food was just average. The belly dancer and band are not worth the price of the food! We'll stick to TC from now on, and sit outside to hear MoRockin'. (Glad we did it once, just won't be rushing back.) :)

We went in Nov and didn't care for it. Our first issue was that DD1.5 yrs was ready to walk around, and not that quiet (thats obviously not the restaurants fault) but we assumed there would be music, belly dancer, etc. It was 5pm. It was like a library in there...SO quiet. I actually walked around with DD, but the music AND the belly dancer were only on for about 10 min. The food was ok..I had the lemon chicken. We eat at a lot of Greek restaurants, not quite the same, but I've had lots of lemon chickens...it was just ok. DH didnt care for the sauce on his, and our DDs hamburgers didn't look that great. Not someplace we'd return.

thanks for all the great advice ...
Is there anyway to find out when exactly MoRockin' plays so that we can plan our CS at that time? We have seen them before but it really was hit or miss and I do not want to "hit/miss" with a party size of seven.
Show times might be on the time guide at the park but how does one find out show times before hand?
Thanks again,
Bronte

We always eat lunch at Morrocco on each trip. We really enjoy it. My DS and DH get the combo "Feast" and they love it. I have either chicken or lamb and both are really good. The dessert I had in October (I can't remember the name of it) was to die for, the single best thing I ate all week!
The belly dancer and musicians are fun, but I agree not worth the cost by themselves.
We enjoy the food, the lovely atmosphere (Yes it is quieter than some other restaurants - Hoooray!), the entertainment and the CM's.
I recommend it.

We were there at Christmas and the belly dancer did two dances on stage, and then for her last dance she went through the restaurant. We later went out and saw the same girl dancing with the band outside by the henna tattoo area.

The food is excellent and the restaurant itself is very pretty.

No, the Living Statues are gone. I read on another forum that Disney wanted to make the show exclusive to Disney. But the creator of the show wanted to be able to do the show at other places besides Disney, so they decided not to renew the contract.
