Ok, in my son's first four days of Kindergarten, he has come home wth 3 (yes - 3) fundraising things. One of the fundraisers is Market Day foods. This looks alot like Schwan's type stuff. Has anyone ever ordered from this Market Day? Is their stuff any good? Is there something in particular that you really like? They have a money back guarantee but I hate to spend this kind of $$$ if the food is lousy!

I've never personally ordered from them.. but I have a few co-workers that regularly order & they seem to like the products...

After my son's school started selling Market Day I had to invest in a freezer because we loved the food.

The chix breasts are wonderful. They come individually packaged and frozen. You can thaw them in a couple minutes and 5 minutes later (using the George Foreman grill), you have dinner.

My kids love the mini cheese pizzas. The crab cakes are very good also.

The frozen corn is outstanding and we always keep a box of the frozen green beans around also.

My son and I absolutely love the seasoned salmon, the scallops and the stuffed flounder.

As you can tell, we are truly a Market Day family. When our school stopped selling it, I had to find a different school to use.

If you have any questions, just let me know!

Thanks for all the info. We are going to get a few things this time and if we like them we can always order more/different stuff next month.

Now, I REALLY understand what my parents meant when they said kids were expensive :lmao:

We love Market Day. These are some of the things we order regularly.

Chicken Steaks
Breaded Chicken Steaks
Crispy Crunchy Fries
Popcorn Shrimp
Apple Blossums
Fried Rice
Sweet Corn

We loved the Flame broiled burgers, baglers and ribs but they recently discontinued them here.

Give them a try!

My kids are not even in school yet, and I have been buying from Market Day since before they were born.
I like the food and the convenience.
There are always monthly specials, so if you find something you really like you can stock up.
Some of our favorites are:

Chicken fries
Chicken Steaks
Tillapia
French Toast Sticks
Ranch Steaks

I say give it a try!

Hi. I have been hooked on Market Day for a few year's now. DH and I don't have any children of our own, but my friend turned me onto it. Some of the items are so good. In fact, every year for Thanksgiving at our house, I get the frozen vegetables, spinach au gratin, sweet potatoe praline casserole, etc. My DH really likes the fruit push up pops. They are strawberry and peach have have chunks of real fruit in them. They are so good too. I've never bought anything that I didn't like from Market Day. Oh...and the pies are to die for. And the school normally gets more money from the pies that they sell. Good luck...let us know if you gain 10 lbs. after discovering it. I think I did. :)

We love Market Day. We buy the teriyaki steaks, the pies, the frozen breadsticks and more. Everytime one of my coworkers sells for them I buy stuff.

Yes, this is one of the fundraisers that we always participate in since my daughter started bringing them home.

CHicken steaks are awesome!
Steak kabobs are yummy
My kids LOVE and ADORE the cheese filled pretzels as after school snacks
And I LOVE the toasted raviolis

Is this something that you can just find online and order or is it alwasy done they fundraiser...i looked at the Schwans last year cuz we saw it at the NAsCAR race but it just looked kinda expensive and everything looked premade, maybe i didnt give it a real good look,...should i just google it? lol

We have Market Day once a month and they usually have some kind of specials. I like the Chicken steaks, Fried Cod, Fried Rice, Apple Blossoms, Strawberry Shortcakes and the Fruit Juice frozen bars are good. You just have to try different things and see what you like. I used to get the Vidalia Onion burgers but last time I found three pieces of bone in them... ewwwww! Sam's Club has some of the same things for less but you are helping the school with Market Day.

Thanks for the link, unfortunately there are no schools in a 25 mile radius from me...oh well...

I like Market Day for certain things, like chicken breasts, corn, and breadsticks. My DD's school doesn't do it but my MIL's does and we've been using it since before we had kids! I don't think it's always the cheapest, but it does have some good items and it's for a good cause.

Count me as another Market Day lover. We go for the chicken steaks, salmon, stew meat, hamsteaks, ground beef, meatballs, etc. Also, frozen vegetables. The peas, asparagus, green beans, Prince Edward Medley, and others are all very good.

I typically avoid anything that is "prepared" like French toast sticks, appetizer bread, mac and cheese, fried rice, pasta dishes, etc. The kids just don't seem to enjoy them as much as if they were homemade.

Sure, the stuff ain't cheap. But, it's a fundraiser for a good cause (kids' school), and the portion control is EXCELLENT. Most of us watching our waistlines could benefit from some Market Day-imposed willpower.

My family won't eat any other corn anymore and the broccoli is the best frozen I've found. I've bought (and worked) Market Day since my youngest two were in school. The baby is now 19 and a college sophomore but my DGD are now at a school that sells Market Day and I get my order through them. We've used a lot of their products and there are only a few we don't care for.

My children's school has Market Day. We have found some things that we really like, and a few things we've ordered once and not again.

The kids love the Bagelers (bagel sticks w/cream cheese in the middle). You can take it out frozen and put it in their lunchbox and it's defrosted by lunchtime. The Apple Blossoms are scrumptious, and the chicken steaks, chicken pot pie, and bagel bites the kids like. Some of the items are really, really high in calorie and fat, but you can look up all of the nutritional info on their website.

They have 'specials' and various promotions every month as well. Some things remind me of BJ's quality items.

Good luck!

I can offer a slightly "prejudiced" viewpoint on Market Day products.

I manage a Sara Lee store in the Chicago area, and we are partners with Market Day. I carry a wide assortment of their products in my store. All of them are absolutely of the highest quality. I say this not only as a personal opinion, but because of the almost non-existent rate of returned product. I can think of only twice in over a year that anyone brought back a product due to dissatisfation. Believe me, my customers are NOT shy about returning anything that they are displeased with.

You can order with confidence as far as taste and quality are concerned.

:thumbsup2

DS's school has market day, and although i am against fundraisers in general, i do buy from Market Day occasionally, becasue it is decent food, and the school actually gets a decent share of the proceeds compared to the junky candy wrapping paper candle sales.
The pies are good, and the veggies are too. I don't buy the meat because im funny about buying meat sight unseen. On the back page they usually have clearanced items that were seasonable things that are almost gone. It is pricier but you have the added convinenience of not having to go and pick it all and wait in lines at the store.

I have been buying from Market Day at our local school for 14 years.

The chicken steaks are wonderful and so easy to use.

We like almost all of the seafood items. My kids have grown up eating the Alaskan salmon, and some of the other seafood items can be cooked right from frozen, so they have been the thing I grab to cook when our schedule got hectic. We bought a freezer because of Market Day products. It has helped us eat fewer fast food meals.

DD was on a People to People trip to Norway when she was in high school. Well, Norwegians eat a whole lot of salmon. Salmon was served in some form at least once a day. DD friends wouldn't touch the salmon. DD was in heaven because they gave her their portion. I've always said our family has enjoyed seafood because of Market Day. I wouldn't have had the time to run to the store to buy fresh seafood, but it was already in our freezer and so easy to cook, and a much higher quality than the national brands frozen items. IMHO
