I apologize for asking this question (probably) again. I did a search but can't find info. I read descriptions of both these boat rides and it sounds like their paths are similar. I'm trying to remember if both boats have louder parts to them or if only one does. IIRC, the paddlewheel set off either steam engine or a cannon...something that was loud....I have not been on either of these ships in YEARS. I do have noise issues which is why I'm asking. Otherwise, it always looks like a relaxing way to spend 15 or so minutes. Thanks so much and God Bless You.

There's a small cannon on the Columbia that at a CM sets off. It's at the forward of the ship.

The mark Twain has a whistle, but if you aren't on the too deck it definitely isnt bad. The Columbia has a cannon, but they give you warning.

I have noise issues, too, and usually don't have any problems with riding the MT. Wearing ear plugs and/or headphones can help, too. But usually the MT is a relaxing ride, especially since the 2017 refurb. If you ride the MT, make sure to ride the DLRR the same day. The two rides work together -- there are things you can hear from the train that you can only see from the MT.
Have a great visit next week!

Thanks and hug Luckyrabbit. I don't do well wearing anything really on my head other than light floppy hat for a little while so no headphones but great idea. I'm postponing a week on due to possible cooler/wetter weather next week. I may watch a run of MT to see/hear from afar and go from there. I appreciate your and other's help.

I know this is O/T to this thread but sort of related...a reminder that last year when I rode the DLRR, the last segment from Tomorrow Land to Main Street that goes through the dinosaur area was incredibly LOUD. I posted that when I shared my overall experience that day but since DLRR was mentioned here just a reminder. That may have changed by now. I will definitely ride the train the three 3 legs :)

We just rode the DLRR tonight, and the Primeval World is still loud. Also, there is a lightning bolt in the Grand Canyon scene that is LOUD. But I wore my earplugs the whole ride and was prepared. When we ride after 9 pm, I know F! will be going on when we stop at the NOS station, adding to the loud factor. So the earplugs help with that, too. And, if fireworks are going off when we return to Main Street, the noise doesn't bother me as much if I'm already wearing the earplugs.

Jlmarr, that is very true and a great idea for those not minding to paddle. I do have a very fuzzy memory of YEARS ago as in when I was a little kid the canoe I was in tipped over! This was forever ago though.

Thanks, Luckyrabbit for the recent train update.
