Can you even believe this???? It's outrageous.
I don't even have the words to explain how upset this makes me.

After his brother-in-law pleaded with him to plead guilty:

Hacking's kin asks suspect to plead guilty

Mark Hacking, the Salt Lake City man accused of murdering his wife, Lori, and dumping her body in the trash, should "be a man" and plead guilty, the woman's brother wrote to the suspect. "Save your family the grief and cost of this attorney. Just plead guilty for once. Just tell the truth. Take responsibility for your actions," Paul Soares said in a letter he sent to Mark Hacking in jail.

:(

of course he pleaded "not guilty". it's just a preliminary procedure. no one pleads "guilty" at their initial arraignment.

though if I were his attorney I'd be actively engaged in plea bargain discussions right about now. either that, or I'd be preparing my insanity defense.

I agree, there's no way he was going to plead guilty. No surprise, but wouldn't it be refreshing to see it happen in one of these types of cases?

I'm sorry if I don't understand how the Law works, however this person admitted they were guilty numerous times and now he's not?

How does this make any kind of sense? Why waste everyones time and money trying to defend yourself when you know you did it. It just makes me sick.

What disgusts me is now we have to hear about him for 2 years like we did Peterson. I just don't care that much about these cases to hear about them over and over for years.

This story and the Peterson story are 2 that need to be put to rest. They are BOTH guilty, and the whole world knows it!

Bottom line...if you plead not guilty, you can sometimes cut a deal, get a lighter sentence, etc. If you plead guilty, it's all over.

It provides him with leverage for a plea bargain. I think it's purely a strategic move. Also I think jenny any dots above is right on in her analysis.
