Mariott Village Traffic?

Hi, I have a six day trip planned for 5/28-6/3. Is the traffic at the Marriott Village really that bad? I read one post that said there was not a turn signal at a major intersection where you needed to turn to get to the parks. The poster waited 1 hour in traffic to get back to the hotel one afternoon.

Thoughts and suggestions welcome. I am looking for a clean, inexpensive less than $100 a night place to stay where I can get back and forth to the parks easily without getting lost or having traffic nightmares.

I have reservations at Springhill Suites in the Marriott Village and Hawthorne Suites LBV. Which in your opinion is the better choice? Springhill Suites is pricing out at $556.00 for the six nights plus $5.00/night for parking. Hawthorn Suites is priced at $665.00.

The traffic in that area is very busy, impossible, no. I have no idea where that poster said there was no light where you needed to turn, there are lights. I am over in that area every trip for the outlet mall and Publix.

If you pull it up on google maps you will see that after you turn right out of your Village then you will need to turn one way or another on 535. I would turn left and go in to WDW property via World Center Drive. If you find that the intersection there is too backed up I suggest you turn left out of the Village. Follow Vineland around the outlet mall to International Drive. Turn right on International and it will dead end into World Center Drive then straight on to WDW property.

The Hawthorn Suites will take you via the Downtown Disney area to get to the parks and given the time of year are going and all the construction at DTD this would not be my top pick for location.

Yes the traffic at that intersection can be bad. The outlet mall is that way as well. It did take me about an hour from downtown Disney to the outlet one evening.

You can avoid lost time if you avoid Downtown Disney unless that is your destination. If heading there for an ADR give yourself lots of time. Otherwise I would always use alternate routes to parks.

We usually only travel in August and yes the traffic is horrible in August. We stay onsite but like to eat at Bahama Breeze (Marriott Village is in the parking lot of Bahama Breeze). It takes a long time to get in and out of Bahama Breeze.

My daughter was in the Disney College Program from Jan through May earlier this year. The DCP apartments are off of Vineland and the traffic was fine in early January. We also picked her up from her program in mid May and again the traffic was fine. She did say it took a VERY long time to get to work during spring break.

I think you'll be fine in May.

(We had ressies at Springhill Suites in August, but changed them to Marriott Residence Inn on Marbella in Lake Buena Vista. We changed because of traffic in August and we got a bigger room and they have Mickey Waffles with their free breakfast. If you have AAA they have great rates.)

Thanks for the help. Triple Tots we would love to stay at the Residence Inn and I do have AAA. Residence Inn is pricing out at over $800 for the six days. That amount is just not in my budget.
