Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon both serve "adult beverages". Does this imply I can float the lazy rivers Margarita in hand or is that verboten on the water?

I think it's more of a safety policy for drinks being spilled into the river and also that underage drinkers could possibly imbibe by "borrowing" a drink from an adult. The Cast Members patrolling the river should be looking out for people in danger of drowning, not for underage drinkers and there aren't many people who carry IDs in their swimsuits.

Underage drinkers could just as easily borrow a drink on dry land. I believe it's a FL law that you can't have beverages in pools. Not sure of the real intent/origin of that law, but always been curious about it. Just glad that's not the rule where I'm headed to ski next week.......my frosty beverage tastes sooooo good in the hot tub.......

It's true. I wasn't even allowed to have my feet in the water at SAB while holding my drink.

Oh I know it's true. I got yelled at in the lazy river and told I had to get rid of my cup....ummmm, not like there are trash cans along the way! And couldn't even out my feet in the water at AK zero entry while I drank my fruity drink. My point was that it's not just Disney, I don't understand it, and curious as to the origin.

This is why I like the kalahari and the wilderness lodge in wisconsin dells they have swim up bars

I think it must be a WDW thing. Universal hotels allow drinks in pools. Or the law is just not being enforced there. I know that there were definitely people with beers in the pool at Cabana Bay last year, and I also know people were sitting on the edge of the pools with their feet in the water enjoying drinks.
