Yes, another one of those questions :rolleyes1

I've read that many products can be used after their expiration date. (But can't be sold after it). So what about margarine that's been unopened? Can I use it in baking?

Just how old is it?

But in reality, there are so many preservatives in it that it won't really go bad for several months.

According to Land O Lakes: "An unopened tub of margarine will usually last 4-5 months in a 40°F refrigerator or 12 months in the freezer at 0°F. This generally applies to sticks or tubs of margarine."

"It’s not likely to remain in your refrigerator long enough to become unsafe. Exposure to oxygen and bacteria cause margarine to go “off,” and the resulting rancid, “soapy” aroma and “paint-like” flavors usually deter consumers from consuming it long before it can become contaminated by dangerous bacteria."

edited cause you answered the question while i was looking it up. :)
