We will be around for mardi gras in march and wondered how crowded it gets around the universal resort. Are the schoolkids on their holidays too? We have never been at this time of year and was wondering what to expect.

Many thanks

Hi Doris,

The Mardi Gras evenings run from February to early April and I am pretty sure just take place on Saturday nights - at least they did last year.

I would expect therefore weekends to be very busy, but see no reason why it should be that packed during the week.
Easter also will be crowded, one of the busier times of the year.

We are going next March too.

We went to one of the Mardi Gras events in February this year. It was very busy but not unreasonably so. This was the weekend before Presidents Week so very mucha holiday weekend. We didn't attempt any rides the night we went, though - just went for a meal at Lombards (very nice :thumbsup2 ), watched the parade, enjoyed the ambience and saw Huey Lewis and the News :thumbsup2

It was a great night and we're very much hoping to be able to go again in April next year.

As Johnny says, March is Spring Break and also Easter so you may find it is busy. I would certainly recommend that, if your tickets allow, you go just for the parade and concert and worry about rides another day.

Thanks for the replies folks. I'm really looking forward to this, particularly the drinking part of mardi gras. You will no doubt find me with a margherita or two somewhere, he he.
