Mardi Gras Questions

I've never been to Universal before and we're strapped for time so we're trying to do both parks in 1 day. Mardi Gras will be going on the day we're there. Are the festivities only at Universal Studios? Which park should we go to first? I'm traveling with my boyfriend and we are hoping to do the thrill rides and attractions but no water rides (I'm a little too high maintenance to be getting soaked).

I'd also like to try to take part in some of the Mardi Gras stuff too! Are we crazy for trying to do it all in one day????? We might have a few hours on another day to squeeze things in if we need too.

Thanks for your help, I'm kind of clueless about Universal!

The Mardi Gras festivities are at Universal Studios and take place right at closing. When we were there two weeks ago, the parade started at 8:00pm.

As far as what park to go to first, I would say go to Islands of Adventure first and try to be there first thing at opening and ride the thrill rides then, you'll most likely have a shorter wait. IMO IOA is busier than US.

Regarding whether you can do them both in one day, I think it can be done if you don't see the shows or anything. When we were there, there were no waits even in the non fast pass line so we got one park done in about 4 hours. So it's possible, but I'm not sure what the crowds are like now.

From your count down time it looks like you will be here during spring break season. You will need to expect pretty good lines with some waits around 30-60 min on different rides.
