Our trip is near my son's birthday and I thought it would be a nice perk for him. has anybody done this?

Are you talking about being on the float or seeing the parade? If in the event you are talking about seeing the parade, I have seen it several times and it is amazing. However, I just saw the 2008 float on 2/16 for Sara Evans and I was impressed with the new floats!

Mardi Gras along with Halloween Horror nights are must do special events at Universal.Basically starting around 5pm there are entertainers, musicians, special New Orleans food throughout Universal. At 8 or 9pm the parade starts and in my opinion this is one of the most entertaining parades anywhere, also be prepared to catch a lot of beads. After the parade ends the concerts start over by the boneyard.
