For those interested....

The parade will start between Jaws and Fear Factor and make it's way through Amity and The Embarcadero...down 5th Avenue past RoTM...down 57th Street past Twister and continues down Plaza of the Stars past Jimmy Neutron...turns onto Rodeo Drive past the Lucy Tribute...down Hollywood Blvd. past Mel's...turns down South Street and finishes behind Beetlejuice and Canal Street.

The AP viewing area is in Battery Park (across from Mel's Diner).

That will give you an idea of where you need to be to view the parade.

This is from the AP mailing I received today. The map is very small and hard to read so I'm not going to post a picture of the parafde route at this time.

The parade starts at 8pm from 2/7 through 3/28 but starts at 9pm on 4/4 through 4/18.

Hope that helps in planning.
:thumbsup2

Feb 7th is the first Mardi Gras, and I fear that will being the locals out in droves to see this years Parade.

Our plan is to hit IOA early and grab lunch around 1 at Mythos, then saunter over to US by 3, hit simpsons, MIB, Mummy then scope out the Mardi Gras set up. We are risking dinner at the Cajun Food Booths that will be around, and enjoying the Zydeco Music, All while keeping an eye on the AP viewing area for the parade lol

With no kids this trip we are excited to just do bits and pieces and take in the flavor.

We will be there to and have the same plan. I'm going to scope out the whole AP area and concert area first to get a feel for it. This will be our 6th Mardi Gras.:thumbsup2

I'm kind-of a local, just a few hours south.

(ok ok so it's a few hours north by plane) :rotfl:

soooo,if you wanted to watch the parade, and still go see Montgomery gentry,, where would one stand?

I dont think we will be AP holders....

depends on which is more important to you. if you want to get real close to the stage then you will be far away from the parade (maybe 40 to 50 yards). if you want to be close to the parade and catch beads then you need to be close to the streets the parade route follows.
We usually pick a place along the parade route to catch the beads and see the parade and then work our way to the Monster's Cafe area to watch and hear the concert. :cool1:

Thanks for the info - I think we want to be close enough to the parade to catch the beads, being close to the stage is not so important, we just want to hear the concert.

You shouldn't have any problems hearing the concert...the sound bounces off the buildings.
