Mardi Gras Parade, Float sign up/AP questions

Has anyone signed up to do this in the past? Had a couple of questions I was hoping to get answered, if possible.
How far out did you find out if you got selected?
Was it really close to the date?
Any guesses as to how many are selected?
I see some dates are already filled, which confuses me if they haven't already selected riders, do they just know they aren't taking any more?
What time is the parade, is there more than one (seems like this info should be out there but I can't seem to find it)
Thanks for any help and if there is a link to point me to for this info, feel free to post is vs. answering the questions. I looked around and struck out but I'm search challenged

Maybe there are some dates that a specific group will be at the park and as part of their 'package/experience' they will be onthe floats those days......?

I did this for 1st time last year - I think it was the week before that they let us know we were picked. This year, that same date was already filled before I could request it.

I guess they have a cap on how many requests they'll take for any given night. It's just the 2 of us and the limit is 5 per request, so if a lot of people, each with 5 in their group request to do this, I could see how they'd fill up fast.

We're only up there for 2 nights, so I didn't have any flexibility in dates. I have my name in for the 2nd night - fingers crossed. It was so much fun.

Yeah, we only have 2 days that we can be there. I signed up under me, for 2 spots on 1 day and under DH for 2 spots on another.

Do you remember what time the parade was?

I can't remember the exact starting time - maybe 6/6:30. I think the concert started at 8pm. But they do require everyone on the floats to get there early - like 2 hrs in advance. It's a bit of waiting around and getting organized, then more waiting on the float before everything gets going.
