Anywhere between 8-9pm depending on the night. What time do the concerts typically start?
I wasn't sure whether to start a new thread with this question, but it's somewhat related. I heard that the concerts at Universal are standing room only with no seating at all provided - is this accurate?

This is true...they pack them in like a sardine
Headliner concerts usually bring in lots of people so around 3pm or so, the Studios will start to get crowded. If you're going to be in the Studios earlier in the day, you have nothing to worry about but if not, you should plan to be there around 4:00pm before it gets really crowded. MG will bring in a lot of fans so expect large crowds for the concert that night. How busy does it get the night of the concert? Should we plan to be there early? We have never been to these events at Universal and we will be there during that time. We are missing Demi Levato by a couple of days so Montgomery Gentry is the event we will be able to see.
The smaller bands that usually play more New Orleans style music play in the French Quarter courtyard earlier before the headliners play at the Universal Music Plaza. That's a pretty fluffy lineup. Also, maybe I'm a traditionalist but where is the Jazz and Blues?
The headliner concerts are held at the Universal Music Plaza inside the Studios park. The UMP is located beside the Rockit coaster.Where, exactly does one see these performers?

That show will bring a huge crowd since they are a local band. With the show starting sometime between 8-8:30pm, you would need to get to the stage area (if you want to be hear the stage) around 5:30pm or so I would think. You should just keep an eye on things and if that area starts filling up, head over. The concerts are standing room only so there is no seating.I'm going down for one of the concerts (Matchbox Twenty) & will be spending the day at Universal beforehand. How early should I plan on arriving at the Plaza for a good spot? Do they allow blankets or chairs?
The concert starts after the parade so you can skip the concert. However, Pitbull will have the Studios packed that night so there will be LOTS of people wandering around. The French Quarter music goes on earlier in the evening so you shouldn't have any problems there. How hard is it to avoid the main concert and still see the parade and French Quarter? We'll be there the night Pitbull is playing, who I have no interest in seeing (and you kids get off my lawn!), but I would like to see all the other Mardi Gras events.
If you are a passholder, you can attempt to get on the floats (Throwing the beads), by signing up for a date on http://www.universalorlando.com/rsvp/mg2013/rsvp.aspx
(passholder + 1 guest is max per entry)
That would be the BEST surprise ever!Wow! My son who is 8 would absolutely LOVE this. His absolute favourite thing about our town Christmas parade was that he was allowed to be in it and hand out candy canes. I swear you would have thought it was his full time job to make sure no single person missed getting a candy cane. He's a sweet little guy. I won't tell him about it, but I will sign up the week before and cross my fingers. It would be a nice surprise![]()
