Mardi Gras Float - How to get on?

Anyone know how to get my family on a Mardi Gras Float? i would have three kids with me (6, and two 10 yr olds), are kids allowed? Any information would be appreciated.

I know if you purchase passes with your American Express card you can either get a special viewing area or to ride on a float.

I do not know if there is any other way.
