Mardi Gras – Celebrate the Spirit!
Saturday Nights - February 11 – April 22, 2006
It’s Mardi Gras time at Universal Studios! Once again the streets are filled with beads, bands, and a rocking parade—but that’s just the start. This year’s party marks 150 years of New Orleans Mardi Gras festivities so we’re setting up our own French Quarter and packing it wall-to-wall with authentic cuisine and musicians straight from The Big Easy—on top of the legendary party bands you love to jam with. Get yourself ready because this year’s Mardi Gras is unlike anything you’ve seen, heard or felt before. Let the good times roll!

Anyone go to the Mardi Gras festivities last year? What time does the party/parade start, and where in Universal Studios is the party held? Only on Saturdays? Surprised they don't do Friday & Saturday or Saturday & Sunday. I would like to attend twice. Sounds like a lot of fun!

Is Mardi Gras just celebrated at US or do they do something at City Walk?
Thanks.

Parade is at the end of the day, IIRC 6 p.m (when it's getting dusky out). The concert is on a stage across "Main Street" (been on it dozens of times but I still don't know the official name) from Shrek. The headiner plays after the parade, but they have people out to warm up the crowd earlier.

They used to do it every night, but lately (past year or two) have cut it down to just Saturdays, which is sad. Hopefully they will reconsider and go to at least 2 or 3 nights per week this year.

For the most part, just US. Pat O'Briens has a Mardi Gras theme 365 days a year, and you may see a few decorations up around CityWalk, but the parade and bands are limited to the park.

I assumed it was a citywalk thing. But its a US thing? So you have to have an admission ticket? Does this party continue at Citywalk? If so how late? Thanks.

My son and I visited Universal last February. Definitley check out the parade!! We had a blast. Grabbed lots of beads, checked out the actual Mardi Gras floats and boogied to KC and the Sunshine Band. That's the way uh huh uh huh I like it!!

You have to have admission to US to see the parade/concert. Usually, your ticket will also get you into CityWalk that same night, if you want to hit Pat O'Briens or one of the other clubs afterwards (POBs will have more beads at least). Nothing formally organized for Mardi Gras, tho. The "party" continues there until 2 a.m., same as any other night.
