A Special Needs Girl, A Relative Noob and a Vet head to Disney

The cast:

Me, DD, father of a high school dance-team member. The dancers and band will bus to Florida beginning early AM, 4/17.

DS (sister) My sister and I will fly from upstate NY on
the 18th.

DF (friend) of long standing, will also fly from NY on the 18th.

The dance team and band will perform before the official parade
on Main Street on Monday afternoon, April 19. I’ve been fortunate
enough to have done this once before, and it is a true thrill to see your
daughter come stepping down Main Street. This year, it’ll be just the
younger daughter, as the older has headed off to college. Sadly, she
cannot join us, but she’ll be making her own sojourn to Europe on her
Spring break, so all is OK.

My family and I have a long DisneyWorld history, including a group
Outing of 26, gathered onsite to celebrate my late father’s 75th birthday
in 1992. At the fabled Hoop Dee Doo Revue, the cast whisked my Dad
away and we didn’t see him again until he emerged onstage in tutu and
wings as Davey crockett’s ghost. He blew kisses and proffered his best ***(et) to the
crowd, as he was directed. We all remember it well.

Since my little sister enjoys the Hoop so much, we’ll be going back again,
So that she can laugh along with the rest of us to those silly shenanigans.
My little sister has Downs Syndrome, and brings such a joy to all of us,
We’re very lucky to have her. When I visit, she reminds me, without trying, that simple is good,
And what is truly important. I’m looking forward to seeing her face lit up with
Disney smiles. I happen to know she’s going to flip for the Laff Floor, that’s
going to be a lot of fun.

So my daughter and her dance team mates and the only all girl High School
Marching Band in the state of New York will march on Monday April 19.

We plan to dine at the Hoop, the Brown Derby, France, Italy, Canada and 50’s at DHS.

My DF has not visited the World in about 15 years, maybe more, so we have a lot of
Catching up to do. She says I can take her on just about anything, as long as she
Can rip off my arm - I mean, hold my hand on the scary rides. She also wants
To see Minnie, which we’ll work out, and she thinks Chip and Dale are furry and
Hugable, which I wouldn’t argue with – but I don’t plan on hugging them myself.
I’ll take the pictures.

:wizard: Sounds great!

I too have a SP child. My DD shares a few qualities as your sister. She keeps her older sister "grounded" and my DS is a perfect gentleman!

Enjoy the trip! We will be there in late Apr., we will miss the parade.:wizard:

Weswife - Thanks.

I really am fortunate to be bringing my little sister. I asked her a while back what she didn't want to go on, and she said, "anything too high." I am assuming this means no ToT for N. Oh, well, big brother will just have to go twice.

I am curious to hear people's thoughts about Coronado Springs. I hear great things, and I very much look forward to staying there, i never have. I'm a Port Orleans guy...I've stayed at CBR, several different wings at All Stars, and at Pop a few times, too.

People have said, "It's huge." Like three times. And, I suppose, it is. Would those of you who have stayed there consider it unmanageablly big?

As I shamelessly continue to add to my own Pre-Trip....do we have any Brown derby folks out there? It has been years since my firt and only visit, but I decided that the original Cobb Salad is for me so i know what I'm getting. if anyone has anythoughts on what else might be good there, or would want to share Brown derby thoughts, thanks.

I love Magic Music Days.
Everyone one of my kids got to march down the MK Main Street with our h.s. band.

My dh loves CBR, he doesn't feel it is to large at all. They don't share another bus with anyone else. We used to love the Peppermarket. But I think like anything else, it can be a hit and miss day. We enjoy eating there for a mid afternoon meal, but the breakfasts are blah. My dh likes the "make your own omelete, but somehow your food gets cold fast. You'll love the beds there, everything is queen size. That is why we won't stay at POR anymore, and it is our favorite place to stay. The queen beds spoiled us.

Aww, too bad the band isn't marching until the 19th...otherwise we could've seen you! We leave the week before. :sad2:

That is awesome, I wonder if we ever saw any of them. There have been a couple times we've seen bands from Wisconsin.

OhMari - thanks for your take. I read that on of the 8 or 9 buildings is used for conventioners, and we do know there is a convention scheduled the week we're there. So...does it make sense to request Bldg 8 or 9, given that we'd like to be close to the bus? Sorry for all the questions and thanks for the help.

wdwgirl - I'm sorry you'll miss it too, but I know you're going to have a great time as well. Thanks for posting.
