My DD needs a new marching plastic clarinet. She's in HS now and the clarinet she's been using is her original one she's had since 4th grade when she started playing and it was in a very used condition back then. There are way too many things needing to be fixed on it and the cost way exceeds what I think a new/slightly used one may be now - using Ebay prices as a benchmark.

Here's my question. She had a plastic Vito before. There are so many styles of these 7212, 7214, 7250, V40, Resotone, that my head is swimming. Which one is best for an advanced marching student? Many of the descriptions say that they're great for beginners, but she's not a beginner. Even the descriptions on Vito Leblanc's website are generally the same words and isn't descriptive enough for me to know which model would be best.

Can anyone help me in choosing the right/appropriate model for an marching band/advanced clarinet player?

Is it going to be used for concert band too or just marching band? If it's just marching band, it doesn't make much of a difference.

Thats what I thought - it didn't make much of a difference, but I wasn't sure.

No, she has a R13 for Wind Ensemble. This will only be for outside use.

Hi! I used my original cheap beginner plastic clarinet from grade school all the way through high school without a problem. My parents had bought me a top of the line wooden Buffet in high school for concert band. I wouldn't go expensive for a plastic for marching band

I had to replace daughter's marching band clarinet last year - we went with a used but great condition one - that is plastic

The only thing we did was get a new better mouthpiece, and she uses the better one only for competitions - she uses the old cheaper one for practice and football games

When we were looking, the store we were dealing with let her try all of them, and then the 2 that she liked the best, we borrowed for band director to check out

We do that too. I don't think she's ever used any of the mouthpieces that originally came with any of her clarinets.

Out of curiosity, what mouthpiece is your DD's good one? I just bought another one for her this past week.

We bought DD's clarinet used from a friend when DD was in 4th grade. She is a senior in college and still uses the same one for marching band. She has gone through several mouth pieces though.

Sorry I'm not much help.

Her good mouth piece is

Vandoren Paris 5RV

This was based on what band director recommended

She really likes it

Her clarinet is a Yamaha 20?
