March St Patricks Day or January Xmas period?

As you guys know I am currently planning the next holiday to DLP, which is also going to be our honeymoon. We are kinda tying a family holiday and honeymoon in together, so we can take the kids and my mum.

We had originally planned to go in March again over the St Patricks week and had finally decided that was going to be the plan and stick with it. But now I am not as convinced! (should have booked it when we decided then I couldn't go back on the decision!)

Anyways, as we are getting married on NYE in London, we thought why dont we take the honeymoon straight away and travel to DLP the following day straight from London. I am really excited to think we could enjoy the xmas festivities at DLP, but I am also worried how busy it will be? Does the xmassy feeling and extra xmassy bits outweigh how busy it will be?

The plan is to arrive on 1st Jan and stay for 3 nights maybe 4. Will the park have quietened down by then? As people will be leaving after xmas and NYE?

One other question, do the parks open later?

My main question is..am I crazy to choose NYE over March? Should I stick to the original plan?

Any other help and info would be appreciated.

Hi

We are going the St Patricks week. Have a look on DLP when quiet thread, 'mommytoash' posted a link to her trip St Patricks day last year and park hours.
Only ever been for a day trip in January years ago, but Paris in January was freezing far colder than here, so cold your face hurt and we live in Scotland, all the fountains were frozen. Don't know if that was unusual or how it always is. Hopefully somebody else will be able to give you more info.

Hi, can't really help comparing but we did go St Patricks day week of this year and it was fantastic!!

The weather can be very changeable but we've been really lucky and gone twice in March and it's been really warm both times (the week before we went this year though there were reports of very cold weather before though!)

Also worth thinking about the weather we've had January over the past couple of years and possible disruptions to travel due to snow. In that respect I would think March is the safer bet but like I said that's just my opinion! I have friends that have been in January but haven't myself.

The St Patrick day celebrations were great though and we were so lucky as booked that week just by chance!! It was only through reading posts on here I even realised it was St Patricks Day whilst were there and got to see fireworks!!
