Am I too early to start looking for car rentals for 3/18-3/23/08? I can't believe how high the rates are. Does anyone have an awesome code or stackable codes?

What kind of car? What is the best price you've found so far?

There is another thread on here regarding rates for Easter Week - but I just booked Dollar on Saturday for March 19 - 27th a Standard SUV for 202.00.

When I looked yesterday it was still there - but it seems to come and go - I think that is the best that there is as when I have been looking it was 500.00
or more.

I booked an SUV through Alamo for 3/13-3/20. After codes and discounts, it's $195.... I posted it in another thread, too...:thumbsup2

It is never too early. The beauty of car rental reservations is they don't charge until you pick up, and you can cancel a hundred times.Check daily or weekly now, then daily as you get closer.Every time you find one lower, book and cancel the previous.I've saved hundreds with this method. You can find discount codes at www.mousesavers.com.
good luck and happy hunting

I booked a full size at Dollar for mid march for 247. I did not use any codes. This is for pick up and return at MCO.

I only need a midsize. I thought about priceline but I remember reading last year at a busy time they weren't honoring the agreements. Is this correct?

Not sure what you mean about not honoring agreements. If you prepay for a car through Priceline the rental company will have a car available for you.

I don't recommend Priceline until last minute. With rates constantly changing, most of the time you will be better off using codes/coupons.

I've only used Priceline for car rentals a couple of times and have been very happy with what I've gotten. I'd suggest, though, that if you're thinking of using Pline as your only option that you'd have to consider the timing of your trip. It's great for off-peak travel periods but if you're travelling during a holiday week you may not find a great price due to heavy demand.
When I've used Pline I've always had a back-up car reserved through one of the rental companies and used that price as the measure for my Pline deal. And I only bid up to a level that's still well below the best discount price that I could find.

I used the Wal-Mart code and an additional $25 off Entertainment coupon to get it down to $195...

Here's the thread with the Entertainment coupon link:

Thanks for the reply. We are going to Fort Myers Beach this year and it seems that the codes are only good for Orlando. A mid size SUV was about $700 :scared1: Thanks though, I'll keep looking for something for FMB!

That isn't true. I used the WalMart code and the $25 entertainment coupon for rental in Tampa and it worked.

What are your dates?

Do you so that over the phone using 2 codes? I can see only one area to fill in infromation for one code and not an additional area. Could you some directions if you don't mind pointing out the right direction for me to go!

Thanks!:car:

No, I did it on line. You put the Wal Mart code in the ID box and the Entertainment Coupon code in the Coupon Code box.

Actually my dates are the first week in April. The 2nd - 10th.

We are going March 7- 16, 2008. Flying from Detroit to Fort Myers. Maybe I entered the codes wrong. I did try the same codes using the Orlando airport as home base and the rental was about $250. I'll try again. Any help would be most appreciated! :thanks:

For 4/2-4/10 at Fort Myers I see $322.94 for a midsize SUV using that code/coupon. How did you get $700 :)
