We're waivering on buying JetBlue now before they go up any more or waiting on Southwest to release their dates in November .. I'm afraid Jet Blue will never come down and we're risking paying more money with them if Southwest can't beat their price ..

what are you guys doing? bought already or waiting it out?

Jetblue has already gone up quite a bit since Friday, but I would prefer a direct flight from Southwest. If only Southwest would release there flights
earlier than November. Its like gambling do you take your chances and book now, or cross your fingers that Southwest prices will be better.:confused3

I didn't wait $1078.50 for 3 of us Syracuse-Orlando March 6 to March 21. Already price has gone up to $1700 Plus. I am glad I didn't wait. Also if price goes down I can use the credit for my next years March trip. Sort of like a savings plan I guess!!!

I would not wait! If you read the posts, even the JetBlue prices went up significantly over lst year the same time...so southwest is bound to be the same in March (more than what you would have spent a year ago)! How much do you risk saving vs risk spending by waiting?? Where are you flying from. We booked direct out of Buffalo - but it has gone up significantly since last Firday.

is it basically just JetBlue and Southwest that are worth watching for? Anyone get a better deal another way?

I booked Delta for us back in June and it was $320 a person return, but there is a stopover in Atlanta.

Airtran has non stop flights but they have been expensive.

We did the same thing as mkmommy - we booked back in June flying from Syracuse and connecting in Atlanta. Flights were just over $1200 for the four of us. I was worried that prices would just go up and since we knew our dates we locked it in. Hope everything works out...

I have no idea where you are flying from but I checked everywhere close to Toronto - CDN and US - Detroit, Hamilton, Syracuse, Buffalo......there are no Magic Deals to be had!! Fact is, if you get it down to $400 pp DIRECT you have done well as far as I can tell! I saw some for around $350 with stopovers but I refuse to stop in a city where it is still winter as you might not get back in the air (happended to us a few years back in Chicago!!).

Keep in mind we are flying at peak time - it is spring break and prices will reflect this - besides - if proces drop, most airlines will give you a credit on your next flgith (JetBlue told me this). It's a bummer to hear of people paying $200 pp to fly now through Jan but that won't be us!!

No one ever wants to admit it but we are flying out of Pearson for March break! I booked with Westjet back in April. $2400 for 4, direct flight. I live 10 mins from the airport.

I'm waiting for SW. JetBlue prices for my dates haven't changed and there are still flights available. S

AirTran had some pretty good deals several weeks ago. Now, it's just sky high. Too bad I procrastinated.

Now hoping that SW comes out with some good deals out of Buffalo..

:confused3 :headache:

My concern right now is the economy and the airlines dropping out of the business like hotcakes!!! Will these airlines still be around in 6 months?? No one could believe the other airlines went under and they did!!! Do I book and then the airline between now and the time I fly out goes under?? Will I get reinbursed??? The ones with Zoom in Canada didn't and some are still fighting for there money back?? I'm worried and scared to book my flight????:headache: :headache:

I'm nervous about it as well. I was able to book my flight back $1100 ONE WAY but have been watching the one to Orlando. The best I can see is $2200 ONE WAY and direct flight. I have never paid this much over $3000 for return flights to Orlando before.

I used to wait until 2-3 mths before and start booking because there would be some seat sales and now I'm not sure about it. I just don't want to pay any more.

Does anyone think that the oil prices going down will affect the prices for the March flights?

I wish I had a crystal ball so we all had the answers, airlines are in rough shape these days. I booked Delta as I figure if they go into Chapter 11 they will still fly.

SW will still be flying so I would not hesitate to book with them, but I think all the airlines have figured out how many Canadians are flying from Buffalo and the rates have really increased, more so than many other US cities. Sad to say but $500 per person is still less than Pearson.

If you are willing to travel non weekend dates and from Detroit or maybe even further south (Pittsburg) you have a better chance of getting a deal.

Track the Christmas fares and that will give you a good idea what is going to happen for spring break.

I am paying less for spring break 2009, but I do not have direct flights like I did this past spring, and I have not seen the fare I got in June lately.

I booked mine and DH flights with Jet Blue from SYR to MCO direct flights from March 13-22 for total of $798 return. We also used $100 in vouchers from last year to get the flights for that price. In all, our flights are still more than what we paid last year, but what can you do :confused3 I can live with that price. Since we booked 1/2 hour after the flights were posted on Sept 5th, the flights have jumped by $400!

The extra for the direct flight is so worth it to us! After our trip Downunder we are just about travelled out when it comes to planes. Quick and Easy is our motto! :rotfl:

You actually did amazing! Prices are now over $900 WJ and AC.

No one ever wants to admit it but we are flying out of Pearson for March break! I booked with Westjet back in April. $2400 for 4, direct flight. I live 10 mins from the airport.

I booked with WJ the first day the flights became available, I think WJ posts flights 300 days in advance. The only problem of course is they have my money for 10 months!

Flew from Detroit last year with Spirit but found this with AirTran from Flint and it's basically the same drive from Oakville. Flights are non-stop and good flight times since no hotel required on either side. My kids have no school on the friday. There is a flight on the Sunday for $138.00 return as well. Even if going to Orlando it's just over an hour drive rom Tampa. Won't find anything like this from Pearson for a family of 5 that's for sure.

I came across a fare of $72.00 each way with www.airtran.com non-stop from Rochester - Orlando or $165.00 including taxes for March Break 2009 in case anyone is interested. I know the school board my kids attend have no school on the friday. Rochester is only 1hr from Buffalo so is another option. You won't find anything even close from Pearson during March break.
