March Break - Car Rental Help

Just yesterday I booked the most economical car I could through Dollar for pickup at Ft Lauderdale airport for Mar. 23 to Apr. 9 at a rate of just over $500 US all inclusive. That is for a single driver and without CDW which we don't need. They did not require a credit card number so I'll keep watching for a better deal and jump on it if one comes up. Then I'll cancel this one. At least I know that's the most I'll have to pay.

If you have a mastercard and use the discounts noted at the mastercard website.. your car rental thru Alamo would be... 452.40. (all in)

Basically the Fort Lauderdale Airport has some of the highest fees and taxes I've ever seen. Almost 150$ is fees and taxes on a 300$ rental. That's like 50% in fees & taxes.
Sucks.

I just checked my car rental using Costco Travel and $25 off coupon. I am getting a mid-size SUV for 9 days for $207.00 taxes in.:cool1:

How does the Costco Travel work? I have a SUV - fullsize - for 12 days March 8-19 for $320 with mousesaver codes and $25 coupon on Alamo. We chose Alamo because we can get Alamo certificates with Airmiles - $200 in certificates. The bad part is we have to deal with a person instead of a machine since we have the certificates, I would pressume. Will call Alamo in MCO before we get there to make sure. Our Mousaver codes were rate BY and code 428448. I had booked a fullsize car before and got the SUV a few weeks later for $30 less, so we took it. Prefer an SUV anyway.

Yes I know about the high fees at FLL, but we're pretty much trapped into using this airport because my daughter only lives 10 miles or so away.

I do have a MC, so I'll check them out. But I prefer to use my Visa platinum card for the CDW coverage. My MC doesn't have it. If the price difference is enough, I may switch. Thanks for the tip! :)
