For all the follow Canadians who are going to be renting cars during March Break, can you please post your car rental rates and the codes you used.

The cheapest I have found is with Alamo - March 8 - 16 for $250.00 with a free day code

Thanks

We're renting a mini van..March 9 - 23 (13 days, 17 hours to be exact)

$529.07 USD using the WN328 code.

Air Canada's website was giving me a mini van with Thrifty for $470 CND (have to pay at time of booking)

we're renting a intermediate car from Dollar and for ten days it is $281, there is no code, but after you enter the info on the page, a deal pops up to click on.

cheers

I am sure glad I reserved a Thrifty car months ago, I am getting a Full Size from Feb 20 to March 9 for $410.00 everything included.
I cannot believe the rental car prices compared to last year.
Last year we got a mid size SUV for 18 days for just under $300.00

Just yesterday I booked the most economical car I could through Dollar for pickup at Ft Lauderdale airport for Mar. 23 to Apr. 9 at a rate of just over $500 US all inclusive. That is for a single driver and without CDW which we don't need. They did not require a credit card number so I'll keep watching for a better deal and jump on it if one comes up. Then I'll cancel this one. At least I know that's the most I'll have to pay.

Got a great one!:cool1:

14 day mid size rental ( for family of 5)Hoping for an upgrade in the emerald isle!
From National
and includes additional driver and unlimited miles
All inclusive
$312.07

I used the $30 off coupon on website with Caa code.
Hope that helps someone else .
By the way , I checked the same car and code on Monday and got a rate of $389 :confused3
Funny how it can change from day to day!

May I ask where you get the CAA code?

Beth ... try www.rentalcodes.com for codes for all companies and dates. Also check out www.mousesavers.com. It gives you codes for companies, as well as explains how you can use mulitple codes for companies like National. I am watching for March 10th to 19th. Today I punched in the Emerald Club code (I registerd for Emerald Aisle for free through the mousesavers website). The code was Contract #5007125, coupon code was NF1982JDD ($30 off), and rate code of WWEB (base rate of $339/per week for minivan). Total was about $475 and if I decide to rent a booster it will be an extra $50.

You need to keep checking because rates improve the closer you get, but if it is too close, sometimes there aren't anymore available for those codes. So I usually book when I think I have a good one, via the website and then just keep checking. I then cancel if I get a better deal. Simple (just time consuming)!!

Alamo
March 8 - 17
1 week @ $170.89/week
2 days @ $28.01/day
Holiday Email Discount - $25
Taxes/surcharges/fees - $58.00
Estimated Total $259.91 USD

If there are big line ups at MCO car rentals - usually are, a local company L&M also in the airport (we've used them going on 7 times now) claims they will match your price given by other company in the airport.

worth a try, we've never had problems with their service ever.

got their name through the unofficial guide

married spouse drives for free

we bring our car insurance policy and they make photo copy and we don't pay for some of the insurances and with our gold card, we end up declining all insurance.

End of january trip rate is $142 for the week plus taxes to just under $200, this does not include insurance (which we wouldn't buy any how). and you can't beat convenience of airport pick up and drop off. We are usually done within 20 minutes while I've always seen others standing in lines at budget and alamo etc.

This company is great and I'd recommend them. www.lmcarrental.net

Nagle ... what kind of vehicle is that rate for?

On our first trip to Florida (flying with kids), we rented from Alamo because we got a good rate. I stood in line for two hours  with a baby who wanted to be nursed and an almost three year old blowing off some steam until she crashed to nap. There were only two wickets open and by the time I got to the wicket I was so frazzled and she charged us all the extra insurance (ended up getting it back after writing a letter). So overall I wasn't thrilled with Alamo. I've rented with National the last two years ... first year I had to line up (short line and quick). Second year I got Emerald Aisle, so we went right to the second level and just picked our van and packed it up and left through the wicket. Just missed getting a Sienna (which I'm dying to own and would have loved to have driven one!). Ended up with a loaded Pontiac Terraza with DVD ... very neat for my girls to experience. So even if I can save a few bucks with Alamo, I just walk by that HUGE line remembering my frazzled experience ... it is always soooo long compared to every other car rental agency in the place!

I always go to Costco.com and check their rates (click on travel at the top and follow the links). They seem to be very good. As long as you are a costco member, you can use them.

Hi there!

Have you checked by calling CAA? I work there and I just checked it out and I am getting a rate up of $160 USD for those dates, from 11 AM each day from Orlando airport.

I'm not guaranteeing these rates or anything, but if you have a CAA membership, you may just wanna call in and see what they can book.

Can you please tell me which Car Rental Company. Do I have to call the CAA office?

If you are a CAA member, call the office for a quote. It may vary from mine, but it should be good.

I just checked the CAA website and their rate was $34 US higher than the one I found myself. I'll keep checking though.

I went with Dollar, March 30-April 6
with the orlando magic card code OI1054 from MCO (airport location)
Got a minivan for a total charge of $305.47 US (includes the taxes)

I just checked my car rental using Costco Travel and $25 off coupon. I am getting a mid-size SUV for 9 days for $207.00 taxes in.:cool1:

To the original poster of this thread...

For Alamo:

Mastercard offers a Corp ID and coupons for cardholders. It usually gets me the near cheapest rate. You must use a Mastercard at time of rental to use this rate structure. It's 7013489 and the coupons can be found mastercard.com under Savings & Promotions for cardholders.

I'm renting a full size four door from Portland Maine for 9 days.. for 222.07$ taxes and everything included. We're driving down to Florida.

Using these discounts in Orlando.. you can rent a mid-size SUV for 7 days in starting May 01 using the Mastercard discounts for 244.48$ all in. (For example)

For your trip in March.. you could rent that same SUV (or a fullsize) for seven days for 190.21 with the Mastercard discounts. If you don't need that much car.. a compact for 7 days with the MC discounts on your travel dates.. $156.62 - again - all included. A mid-size would be 163.
