We have recently bought a class A RV. I am curious to see if there are any Canadians that have driven to the Fort and camped. How was your experience? What loop did you stay in? Would you do it again? TIA

We start the trek for the first time this coming Thursday night. We will be towing our 35 footer down.We are stopping for the weekend in North Carolina for the NASCAR race then driving to Florida for 8 nights at the Fort. Can't wait.

We have been making the trip down to the Fort from New Brunswick since 2004. Our first trailer was a 30 ft Citation, followed by a 32 ft Ciatation travel trailer. This December we will be hauling our new Durango 39 ft. 5 th wheel.
We love the holidays at WDW. The drive down is long and usually takes us three days. This involves long days of driving for DH but we prefer to spend our vacation time enjoying the Fort and the parks.
During our stays we have stayed in the 1800, 200 and 400 loops. We like to be close to the Settlement and Marina so we prefer the 200 or 400 loop.
Our family of 5 enjoys the camping experience. We sleep in our own beds and eat the foods we enjoy. The Fort has a variety of activities and we find most campers are friendly and for us FW feels like home.
I hope you enjoy your vacation.

Do you rent a golf cart or bring bikes? This would be our first camping trip and this would be a big one! We are a little apprehensive about the drive. Lots to think about. What is your favourite activity to do as a family?

We bring our bikes and use them for going to the pool and around the campground. We usually rent a golf cart for a couple of days while we are there during the Christmas season to go " looping" at night to see the decorated campsites. We have always requested and stayed near the Settlement so have not needed a cart to get to the Marina.
I find it difficult to single out one favourite family activity; however, we do enjoy going to the parks together. We always eat together. Each member of the family chooses a restaurant to dine at during our stay.
I agree the drive down is a big undertaking. My DH was raised on a farm and we still own and operate a farm. He has driven large tractors and hauled trailers all his life. He also has his tractor trailer licence. I have been fortunate to be able to depend on him for all the driving. My advice for the drive is to do what works for you. If you need frequent breaks, take those breaks.
Enjoy your planning!

We did it 5 years ago and we loved it. I can't remember the loop but it was a premium site. Cleanest park I've ever stayed in! Either bring bikes or rent a golf cart because it is that big you will need that or the buses to get around. Also, we found it easier to drive to the parks (other than Magic Kingdom), since you don't have to pay for parking since you are a resort guest. We plan to go back again sometime! Lots of fun!
